Question about HP LaserJet 3030 All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

HP3030. ADF Not sensing. I initially reported this problem last November. However, I was able to corrected by simply turning the gear bar on the ADF and somehow it started working again.. until now. It is once again not sensing that paper is inserted. I'm familiar with the little black togle, etc.. Everything appears in order and I have gone back and forth, turning it off and on, etc.. Nothing seems to be correcting the situation. Is it possible that their is an electronic component that's not working? Is the ADF unit replaceable? I would hate to trash this unit..It works perfectly well, but not having an ADF makes faxing large documents difficult. Appreciate your comments.

Try blowing out the hole where the little black toggle is, dust on the sensor below can stop it from sensing a document. If you google for HP3030 parts you will see many places that have ADF assemblies for your machine, not too difficult to change.

HP3030 - burned LIU - how to tell if Formatter board is still OK?

First of all the LIU is a daughter card that fits onto the formatter, its only function is to enable you to send and receive faxes. The ports on the formatter allows PC to communicate to printer by USB or via network.

Try printing the configuration page if this page prints correctly then you know that engine controller and the formatter are working properly together. If it doesn't print try engine test this test excludes the formatter. If engine test good then you're looking at bad formatter, and or purchasing a new printer.

Zebra QL420 portable printer label gets misaligned frequently

There are two things to consider here: 1) Is the printer set to the correct media handling setting? Look in the manual for the terms BAR-SENSE and GAP-SENSE and make sure that you have sent the correct command to the printer. 2) There is a TOF or Top of Form setting that you can send to the printer to align the perforation of the labels with the tear bar. Look for the syntax in the manual, which is free for download at zebra.com, and make sure that your perfs line up with your tear bar.

We replaced the starter on our GE oven in November last year and now the oven will not work again. What do you think may be the problem?

Starter, meaning ignitor, for your gas oven? If so, is the ignitor glowing at all? If it isn't, and there is voltage going to it, it is defective. Although, even if it is glowing, it may still be defective. When it glows, it creates resistance through the gas valve and when the valve senses the correct resistance, it opens, allowing gas to flow to the burner, but if the resistance is not correct, it will not open.

I have a Bernina 1130. It is not picking up the bobbin thread. The hook is clean and oiled. the needle has been changed. It was last serviced November 2008.

Make sure you have the correct needle and it is in with the long groove pointing towards you. If the hook shuttle is rotating and you feel a tight spot when turning the machine by hand it means one of the nylon gears has cracked. If a needle has been broken it is possible the needle bar has been knocked up a little, try dropping your needle down about 3mm and turn the machine over by hand to see if it picks up the thread.
Failing that the timing is out, remove the top cober on the arm and loosen the clamp on the hook drive shaft, when the machine is turned over and the needle is at bottom dead centre the point of the shuttle hook should be about 3mm to the left of the needle.

Document in ADF Redo operation after checking document in ADF and

UPDATE..............

I Solved the problem....

The problem is in the gear box on the document feeder......The (Poor Quality) tension spring against the gear harness becomes stressed to the point where it bends out of it's 90 degree angle from (FYI - below average) use . It fails to function properly causing mis-alignment of the gears during document loading.

In order to fix this you need to remove the drive motor, gear housing and some gears. Bend the tension spring back to the correct 90 degree angle. and reassemble it again. Not for the impatient person.

Fi 5750c adf will not initialise

Just something simple to try...check your software setting to see if it is set for ADF or Flatbed feeding. You said the light bar moves when power is interupted or the adf opened. But you never said if it is scanning in Flatbed mode. If the Flatbed scans, then check the software setting. Most of the flatbed/adf hybrid scanners start up defaulted to flatbed, so when you try to scan, the adf won't pull anything thru until you change to ADF mode.

Power-on "initializing" power-off, repeat same cycle(process)

The all-in-one product display always reads "Initializing" This may occur in a low power situation. Follow these steps in order to determine the cause:
  1. Verify that the computer and the all-in-one product have a three-prong power plug.
  2. Unplug the product cable from any power strips or surge suppressors, and plug it directly into a grounded (three-prong) wall outlet.
  3. If the all-in-one has an ADF with an external cable plugging into the back of the product:
    1. Turn off the unit.
    2. Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
    3. Unplug the ADF cable from the back of the product.
    4. Plug the ADF cable to the back of the product.
    5. Plug in the power cable, and turn on the power.
      • If no change, the problem is not the ADF.
      • If the problem clears, turn off the all-in-one, unplug the power cable, and plug in the ADF.
      • If the error returns, the ADF is defective. Contact HP Customer Care to get the ADF replaced.
  4. Unplug the USB or parallel communication cable from the back of the all-in-one and try to power up the all-in-one. The computer may be grounding out through the communications cable. If this corrects the issue, check the grounding of the computer and outlet. If the above steps did not resolve your issue, contact HP for additional issue verification or the servicing of your product.
