How do I get my Seagate Backup Plus to return data backed up, to my computer?

If you backed up using windows backup, then windows backup will have to do this. I never back up with windows back up. I am old school. I keep a copy of my documents and etc on an external drive, then if I need it all back, I just copy paste from my back up. Nothing automatic, but fool proof.

Connect the external drive to a different computer, and try to copy a few files to it. If you still get "I/O Error", then the unit has malfunctioned.

You can download "Seagate Dashboard" and it has backup software. I have it and it works great.

When you back up a copy of your files or images, they are copied to your back up medium, they are not removed from the computer . If you have deleted them they can reinstalled from the back up.

Backup Plus Potable 500 GB Light Blinking and disk not being read I've got a Seagate 500 GB backup plus external hard disk which is about 2 months old. The hard disk has started to make a slight clicking...

The clicking could be a symptom of imminent failure of the hard drive . Back up all information from this drive as soon as possible. It may be something that a program such as checkdisk can fix but be sure to backup drive before attempting any fixes just to be safe. Hope this helps.
