Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

HP Pavillion a520n desktop will not power up. We just moved to a new house and something must have happened during the move. There is a blinking light on the back of the PC. Power button does nothing. Is there a reset button or fuse or something like that?? I can not find my manual to help myself. Thanks

Remove the power first then:

Take the side panel off and make sure that all of the connectors are secure in their sockets

It is possible that the machine was bounced and the power connector from the PSU has come adrift .

Check the wiring from the front panel power on/off switch to the push on connectors on the Motherboard

Go onto www.hp.com and download an installation manual for the machine or look at the Motherboard when you have the cover off and go to their website and do the same thing

Pavillion a520n overheats and reboots. Fan on CPU runs during boot up then shuts off. Starts again when reboot occurs. Suspect thermal sensor not working. Is it in the fan or on the motherboard?

On motherboard. Please, make sure all fans are connected into motherboard.
Some fans can't plug in into the board at all. So, you can ignore those fans.
When you go to Bios to check thermal condition, if a fan is not plug in, you can see 0 degree. 0 degree dosen't cause the shutdown problem. (That's why you can ignore)
Then check which fans are causing problem, first. (If you did and found the problem, go next.)
Replace fans AND clean those dust!
If the problem remains, then replace its case to steel one.

Well, usually a lifetime of CPU fan is pretty longer than others.

Just in case, one more thing, if the thermal condition is OK, then the shutdown problem is caused by something ales!

I have a yellow blinking light on the power supply of an HP model A000 Pavillion computer. What does that indicate?

if your power supply light is blinking and wont reset that means a component in the power supply has failed or fried or something unknown happened and will have to be replaced

No Power!!

Double check the switch in the back of the pc on the power supply. If their is a switch, you can try it in both positions. It is possible their is no switch, older compaq's are iffy. The switch will be black. Also check the 110/230 switch. I don't know what country you live in, however you may need to make sure that switch is in the appropriate spot. 110 for USA and 220/230 for UK

Also, try unplugging your pc. Let it set for about 1 minute. Plug it back in and try again.
