My imac keys started typing extra characters: typing a makes caps lock come on, hitting caps lock to turn it off types A'. typing x makes cx, s makes sd, e makes ew, 1 makes 1`, z makes z§, k makes kw, etc. this just started recently, have used this keyboard since purchasing the imac used a year ago.

Have you tried pressing the shift key

Carefully check the typing of your username and password. Make sure the caps lock and num lock keys are not on. You might want to open a text editor and type into the window. Are the characters displaying properly? If not, and the num lock and cap lock keys are not enabled, try re-booting your computer. Sometimes the keyboard driver becomes corrupt and reloading solves the problem.

If you have another printwheel try that, if you still have the trouble try blowing out the area where it is in stalled. If that fails turn the machine off then back on, after it completes the POR mark the printwheel with some white out, repeat the POR see if the mark is in the same place, if it isin't you probably have a selection plate problem.

there may be a pressed key in your key board, but pls chcek the key board with keyboard tester free software to identify pressed keys.
pls remove the key board cap carefully and clean
