According to an earlier fixya post by spoil5, it's a common problem with Transcend mp3 players usually because of a defective battery and/or the operating firmware.
Transcend MP 860 Review

His tips:
  • Keep the battery charged, don't let it go flat
  • Try the trick with the volume control
  • Replace the battery

Here's his temporary fix to make charging work:
  • Turn on player.
  • In main menu press and hold the rocker button in up position.
  • You should see volume adjustment indicator.
  • While volume indicator is increasing, plug USB cable connected to turned on power supply.

Important: the volume must keep changing at the moment of plugging the cable (cannot be stopped at max position). If necessary set volume to 0 first and then start from 2.

My Transcend T.sonic 610 MP3 Player battery is fine it is 3V but still the system is not switching on. I conncted to my PC things were fine. I had to change the PC so removed the MP3 Player and connected...

To resolve this issue, format the player using the computer. Also scan the player for any viruses using antivirus program. Even after performing the format the issue is not resolved then you would need to press the Reset button to restore it to its default settings. The reset program will erase all of the settings on the T.sonic. The reset button is on the right side of player. Keep that button pressed for at least 5-10 seconds.
Hope this helps...

My transcend mp3 player automatically power off

First of all, try to charge it at least for an hour.
Then, check if it stills power off automatically with a full battery.
If it still does, you need to firmware upgrade it or just plug it to the computer and update it.

hope it helps.

Transcend T610 player not working properly.

Whatever you do, never format a T.Sonic! Make sure the hold switch is not engaged. You have already reset and tried firmware upgrade. If that fails to resolve, call Transcend because the product is most likely having hardware issue requiring replacement.
