First of all, I have to ask if you have vista install on a USB and is that USB bootable. You can use this program to make the USB bootable. Just save the vista file to your flash drive via the program
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/unetbootin-windows-latest.exe
Next, you have to enter your bios, hold F2 or F12 at power up before windoes starts. I am not sure how yours looks exactly but you need to find and change your boot order so that you boot from the USB first. Once this is all done, you are on your way. Let me know if you need anything else.

How can i install vista in my lenovo g550.i have installed xp priviously, but,now want to install vista in it.i have the copy of vista home premium os cd. please help me.

1. Backup all your files. Windows XP has a "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" under System Tools under Accessories under All Program. Use it to create one (large) file -- copy that file to a DVD-recordable disk or to a USB memory-stick or to an external disk-drive.
2. Verify that you can read that file -- writing a "bad" copy would be horrific.
3. Access the LENOVO web-site -- looking for device-drivers for your model of Lenovo,
that will not be contained on the Vista CD. Download them, and save them to a CD-recordable disk (not a USB disk -- you may need these device-drivers, in order to enable the USB ports after installing Vista).
4. Insert the Vista CD. It should "autorun" something, asking your permission to start the installation of Vista.
5. Follow the on-screen prompts.
6. After the install completes, use "Windows Update" several times, to get all the security-fixes that have been issued since the release of your Vista CD.

How To Create Bootable USB To Install Windows Vista

his tutorial will help you in creating a bootable USB drive ofWindows Vista which you can use to install Vista in any system. Itmight become very useful when you don't have access to DVD drive.

Use the tutorial available Here .

or

Do it using COMMAND PROMPT

1. First format your USB drive in NTFS file system. You can do it byattaching your USB drive to your system and then format it from MyComputer window.

2. Now open Command Prompt window from Start menu. Right-click onCommand Prompt entry in start menu and select "Run as administrator"option.

3. Now type diskpart in Command Prompt window and press Enter. It'll launch DiskPart program

4. Now provide following command:

list volume

It'll show a list of all drives in your system. Look for your USB driveentry. As in the below screenshot, the USB drive is "G" which you candetermine from its "Type" entry.

Now you have to select the USB drive volume by providing select volumeno. command. Since in our case volume no. of USB drive is "Volume 4",the command would be:

select volume 4

Now we have to make this drive active. So provide active command:

active

Now exit from DiskPart using exit command.

5. Now we need to create Boot sector on USB drive. We'll use"bootsect.exe" utility for this task. You can find this utility inWindows Vista setup disk. It'll be present in "Boot" directory.

Now provide following command in Command Prompt:

bootsect /nt60 G:

Here G is drive letter of USB drive. Replace it with the correct driveletter if your system has some other letter for USB drive.

6. At last, copy all files/folders from Vista Setup DVD to your USB drive and you have done.

Now you can boot using your USB drive and can install Windows Vista in any system.

Hi, I'm having some Creative Labs SB0270 External USB MP3+ Sound Blaster issues with Vista. Worked fine with XP, but just can't seem to get anything working with Vista.

Check whether the sound card driver for Vista has been installed. Also check the status of the sound card in device manager. As this is an external USB, check and install latest USB drivers for Vista.

Revert back for more assistance and give your valuable feedback/rating for the solution provided.

Thank you for using Fixya.

Now exit from DiskPart using exit command.

5. Now we need to create Boot sector on USB drive. We'll use "bootsect.exe" utility for this task. You can find this utility in Windows Vista setup disk. It'll be present in "Boot" directory.
Now provide following command in Command Prompt:
bootsect /nt60 G:
Here G is drive letter of USB drive. Replace it with the correct drive letter if your system has some other letter for USB drive.

6. At last, copy all files/folders from Vista Setup DVD to your USB drive and you have done.
Now you can boot using your USB drive and can install Windows Vista in any system.

New computer with Windows Vista

I have my HP OfficeJet T45xi working with Vista Ultimate. I used a cable coverter to switch to USB. I must install the printer with the USB cord unattached. Install as T40xi whose driver comes with Vista. Set to USB port 1 or 2. Plug USB into USB port 1 or 2 (only ones of six USB ports that worked for me). When Windows discovers the printer do not let it install the printer and tell it to not try again.

Works for me. Hope it helps you!
