Question about Brother MFC 7420 All-In-One Laser Printer

1 Answer

Brother MFC-7420, where can I find heat roller ONLY?

We have a Brother MFC-7420 that is printing light lines vertically off-center on the page. We know it's the fuser assembly, but more specifically the heat roller. We have found a fuser assembly for our machine, genuine part, but it is $90. The owner of the store wants to know if it's possible to purchase JUST the heat roller? I have tried searching and the only thing I can find is the entire assembly.

Paper jams brother mfc 7420

Paper Jams are routinely caused by bad roller in the printer. The Heat of laser printers can render these rubber roller pretty useless in a couple of years or less if you print often. If you have recently replaced the drum (according to the recommended print output number), Then If an $80 dollar roller + labor is worth it to you, go for it, otherwise buy a new printer and Brother gives the best ink value per page. hope this helps.

Brother MFC-6800 1. Prints with 3/8" blank vertical line down the entire page; 2. Prints with a couple of 1/16" blank vertical lines down the entire page; 3. Prints with some gray shadow...

This solution is unconventional but it worked for me. The black roller on my MFC had irregularities on it and was creating horrible printouts. I pulled out the drum and cartridge and cleaned the large black roller. I used furniture polish to make the roller very smooth. Now it prints really nice.

I have changed cartridge and drum in the printer

If the cartridge has irregularities on it you will get poor results. The large black roller should be smooth all the way around. Any bumps will cause lines and spots. It is not recommended but I have had luck cleaning that large black roller. Once smooth the lines went away.

I am getting a light duplication on my copies half

The duplication problem can be either the drum or the fuser. Most likely your drum needs to be replaced. If you can measure the distance between the first print and its duplicate I might be able to help more.

thanks adi

A 1/4" vertical gray line off center prints on copies and faxes

chances are that its coming from your heat roller. if you open rear cover and look closely, you will see a unit with an orange colored lower roller, and the upper one is your heat roller. if you inspect upper roller, you should see the defect. its a teflon coated roller and sounds like teflon has worn off. you will have to have that replaced.

White vertical line on pages from brother mfc-7420 printer

Do a half print test......send a print job to the printer listen to the printer...as soon as you think the printer has printed a bit of doc inside the printer..not reaching the fusser ......turn off the printer

Remove the cartridge.....and watch the print inside on the paper can you see the marks.....if so than its your cartridge that is marking your print....

remove the paper by slowly pulling it be careful not to tear it

If the print hadn't been marked on half test.....remove the fusser unit and examine the Teflon cover for marks....try to remove stains off if there is.....avoid marking the Teflon as this will mark more on the print

do advise if this worked if not than you have some more options

Cheers!
