Question about E-Machines W3410 PC Desktop

1 Answer

My W3410 eMachine desktop won't Boot at all!!!!!!

Whenever I start the boot it starts making a weird TICK TICK TICK TICK noise. The fans work fine so from what I've heard that tells me that it's not the power supply even know eMachines are notirous for that sorta thing. I checked the BIOS and it says that CDROM is not installed HARD DISK not installed REMOVABLE not installed. Whenever I let go past the main picture it has that black screen with the white text and says things like: "Fast Ethrnet controller" and then "Media test fail, check cable" and at the very bottom "DISKBOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"
Plz plz plz help me. sad face.

Sounds like a harddisk failure unfortunately. You might want to boot your original OS disc and perform a repair (non-destructive), this may either confirm an HD crash or fix the problem.

So long as there's a Microsoft sticker with serial number on the PC, you can use any disc that matches
your version (HOME vs PRO) or call manufacturer for replacement.

Try to enter your boot screen, usually by pressing F8 when booting up. Then go to your boot priority list and make sure it is booting from your hard drive. I'm not a fan of e machines, it is very possible that the power surge caused some memory or physical errors.

My e-machine w3410 gives me a disk boot error insert disk and hit enter what does that mean

You probably have a non-bootable disc in the CD drive - when the computer powers up, your BIOS's first boot device is probably the CD drive and since it has a non-bootable disc in it, it can't boot. Remove the disc and re-boot your computer.

Try downloading puppylinux, burn it onto a cd then boot from the cd, if everything works fine, then you need to reinstall windows.

Cant boot my emachine 2984

Did you check the CMOS battery and the CPU fan. Those are two things that if aren't working the way they should be, then some computers will not boot up. Try this first then post a response if you still can't get it working.

Emachines e3415 problem

I would guess that the CPU overheated if the fans are noisy. I would remove the CPU heatsink clean and reinstall the CPU with the proper contact paste, reinstall the Heatsink along with a new heat sink fan, if that is the one is making noise also.  Then see if it will then boot up. If not I am guessing that the CPU was damaged for the fans not workingwell enough.
