Question about HP Compaq nx7010 Notebook

Usb ports not working

I have recently aquired a hp nx7010 laptop and I cannot get the usb ports to work. They obviously have some power as the led on my flash drive works when I plug it in but nothing else. I have reloaded windows XP home and updated it but still nothing.

Any suggestions

    I do face exactly the same problem, on the same machine (Nx7010):
    USB port powered, OK in device Manager, but not working, not even with a mouse, not even on the port replicator.

    I tried the Bios refresh/setup(there is no specific entry) with no success.

    The only obviously weird characteristic of the machine is that it phyisically includes a buetooth module, which is not seen/not working. May it be related?

You may need to turn on USB emulation in the system BIOS. To do that you'll need to power the system down. When it first turns on you'll see the Compaq logo with instructions to enter setup somewhere on the screen (I can't remember if that model asks you to hit F1 or F2, try both). Once in the "setup" you'll want to look for USB support. More than likely it's going to be in the peripherals screen.

Also, I recommend downloading and updating the BIOS to the newest version. You can get all the downloads for your system on the HP/Compaq website.

A) If you installed a different, unsupported operating system recently, USB ports might not work properly. B) USB ports might be burned due to an arc. If so; they need to be replaced with new ones.

My laptop model nx7010 is not responding to flashs i mean all the usb port are not wor=king but they giving sign of power coming out wat cld be the problemineyi.

Download the chipset and any other recommended drivers and install them. Check Device Manager for exclamation marks next to devices not working, I'm sure there are a few that are your ports. Otherwise you might have a bigger problem with the laptop.

How do I turn on my new HP 6550B?
I'm assuming you have already tried the power button with the power cord plugged in. Have you recently took your laptop apart for any reason. Sometimes when people put their laptops back together the power button doesn't get lined up correctly.

If you haven't taken the laptop apart, then try a few things:

- Remove the battery plug only the power cord in and try
- Remove the battery and power cord wait a few minutes, then plug back in the power cord and try
- If you have a spare battery, plug the spare in and try

I recently replaced XP with Windows 7 and connected my HP Officejet 4351v all-in-one printer, but I cannot get a printout, just fax and copies. I get an error message on the printer indicating that there...
Try a new USB cable and check if the printer works in another USB port (or another computer). Check if a known working device works in the USB ports on your computer. Check if your USB ports have been disabled for security or power-savings (esp when on battery) in the Device Manager and the Power Savings area.

well known fault caused by faulty motherboard,you can disable your usb ports which will stop the annoying fault reports and you can use your latop as normal but obviously you cannot use your usb ports as you have disabled them

Sound,usb ports and blutooth problems
Audio and Modem chip are the same component and I'd change this first to test.. It can drag the 5V ref. down to drop other components out as well.

USB not working on HP NX7010
Could be another issue dragging the data circuit down for USB functions. If you plug a USB device in with an LED on it does the light come in? If you have electronics or basic electrical knowledge also look to be sure the 5V supply is present. Ive seen Integrated modem/audio chips kill USB function as well as embedded controller chipset issues. Everything shows working in device manager? Try not mapping thru Modem and see if USB returns.. Yell back..

May be there is a problem with your ram or your hard disk is not plugged in properly.Remove your hard drive clean the ports and place it back the way it was similarly do the same for the ram and see if that solves the problem or your ram is dead.Try a new one.
