Follow these steps to resolve the paper jam. Remove any loose paper from the input tray. CAUTION: Do not remove jammed paper at this stage. This video supplements the instructions in this document. For best quality on dial-up connections, wait until the video has fully loaded before viewing. Flash Player from Macromedia is required to view this video. If needed, visit the Macromedia Web site (in English) to download and install Flash. Click here to go to the Macromedia Web site.
  1. On the rear of the product, press in the tab on the left side of the rear access door to release the door. Pull the door away from the product to remove it. Figure 1: Removing the rear access door CAUTION: Do not try to clear a paper jam from the front of the product. Doing so can damage the print mechanism.
  2. Gently pull the paper out of the rollers. CAUTION: If the paper tears while being removed from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might have remained inside the product. Loose pieces of paper will cause future paper jams.
  3. Replace the rear access door. Gently push the door forward until it snaps into place.
  4. Press OK to continue the current print job.
    • If the issue is not resolved , continue to the next step.
    • If the issue is resolved , you do not need to continue to the next step.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next step.
Step three: Clean the rollers
  1. Turn off the unit, and then unplug the power cord.
  2. Press in the tab on the left side of the rear clean-out door to release the door. Remove the door by pulling it away from the unit.
  3. Wipe the paper rollers with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled or bottled water. Rotate the rollers with your fingers to clean all the way around. Figure 2: Cleaning the paper rollers
  4. Allow the rollers to dry completely, and then replace the rear access door.
  5. Plug the unit back in and turn it on.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next step.
Step four: Clear the jam from the automatic document feeder (ADF)
  1. Lift the cover of the ADF. Figure 3: Lifting the ADF cover
  2. Gently pull the paper out of the rollers. CAUTION: If the paper tears when being removed from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might be remaining inside the product. Loose pieces of paper will cause future paper jams.
  3. Close the cover of the ADF.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next step.
Step five: Reload paper and test the All-in-One
  1. Reload plain, letter-size paper in the main tray.
  2. Press the Power button ( ) to turn the product on, if it is not already on.
  3. Press Setup .
  4. Press the right arrow button ( ) until Print Report displays on the control panel, and then press OK .
  5. Press the right arrow button ( ) until Self-Test Report displays on the control panel, and then press OK . The self-test prints.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , continue to the next step.
Step six: Service the All-in-One If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.
