I'm so sorry if this is a repeat -I don't know if the last one went through. Any idea why in WMP, my picture files are organized perfectly, but when I sync to the Zen, one folder keeps seperating itself? I will explain further:
I have my pictures organized in folders for each year, then there are folders withing the year folders for different events. When I syncronize, all is well except for this one folder which should be IN the 2007 folder -it is listed by itself when I look under "sort by name". They are listed as 2005, 2006, 2007 and then there is this out of place folder which should be IN 2007. How does this happen and how can I fix it? I have already tried deleting that folder and the 2007 folder and then re-synchronizing just the 2007 folder and it seperates again. I even did a reset before I synchronized. Anyone?
Go to the creativelabs.com , choose downloads tab, go to your product, then download the firmware.
as you finish the download,
install the firmware with your zen plug on your PC,
it will refresh everything on your zen.

See as you are facing the same porblem with your girlsfirends Zen player, so it seem issue with the computer.
Let me know when you plug to another USB port what happens?
Reload the driver (chipset) back to the computer.
Try to plug to one of you friend computer and see "my computer" does the drive appears there.
reinstall the windows and drivers.
Try updating the firmware at support.creative.com
Try another PC or another USB port
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Check for firmware update on Creative's website
Get Recovery Tool from Creative
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If all else fails, check with this guy:

-Tha Mp3 Doctor
Its took months................. but at last it worked.
1. If WMP 11 is installed, remove it including Media Player 11 runtime
2. Install WMP 10, it must be 10...
3. connect your zen, it will show up as MTP
4. click on your firmware, and at last it showed it was connected.
You won't need to download or install any programs if you have Windows Media Player on your computer. You can use other programs but WMP is probably the easiest!
Plug in your MP3 player using the USB cord (should be in box)
(If your songs are already in Library skip this step). Click "File" (top left hand corner) then "Add to Library..." Click "OK" WMP will now find all music on your computer and add it to Library.
If the internet is connected WMP will attempt to find song info such as title, artist, album etc. Otherwise right click on song and click "Edit"
Click on "Sync" tab (top of player). A sidebar should appear with "Creative zen.. etc" written on the top.
Drag songs into sidebar.
Click "Start Sync"
The songs will now download onto your MP3 player.
To organise your files into folders etc. go to "My Computer" then "Creative Zen etc" then "Music" and create folders (right click "create folder") copy, paste, and drag your songs in folders as you like.
You can now unplug you MP3 player and turn it on!
