Question about NetGear RangeMax WPN824 Wireless Router

Can not connect to my netgear wireless network

When i search for networks it picks up the signal so i press connect then it asks me for the wpa and i enter the correct wpa the retry the connection and it jus says can not connect.

Hi, are u sure if you are using the correct WPA key. You can check the same by following the steps below:

Please follow the steps on a computer connected to the router so as to check the network key:
1. Open the browser(Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox).
2. Access the router usually http://192.168.1.1 else try http://www.routerlogin.com
3. Login to the router (User Name = admin Password = password unless you have changed it).
4. Click on Wireless Settings'(under Setup) from the left menu.
5. Check if 'WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy)' or 'WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)' is selected under 'Security Options'.
6. If WPA-PSK is selected, copy the code entered in the passphrase.
7. If WEP is selected, copy the code entered in the Key that has a black dot before it.
This is the code required for connecting the wireless computer to the routers' wireless network.

Connec to the wireless network using this key.

I am trying to connect another computer to my wireless network but i do not know my netgear code, where do i find this?


Netgear code? Can you be more specific?

Are you referring to the password required to connect to your wireless network called "Netgear"? I assume you're being asked for a password on the 2nd computer when trying to connect to the wireless network called "Netgear".

  1. In a web browser, enter the router's IP address - either http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 by default.
  2. When prompted for a Username and Password, enter the default username and password (admin; password) unless you have already changed it. NETGEAR recommends changing the default password to increase the security of your network.
  3. Select Wireless Settings from the Setup menu in the left-hand navigation bar.
  4. Under Wireless Network, enter your desired network name in the Name (SSID) box. This is currently set to "Netgear" most likely.
  5. Under Security Options, select WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES].
  6. Under Security Options (WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK), enter your desired network password into the Passphrase box.
    • WRITE DOWN or KEEP NOTE of your network name, security option and passphrase - you will require them to connect wireless computers and devices to your network.
  7. Click Apply to save the settings.
Once you've set this password, you can use it to connect to "Netgear" on your second computer.

How do I find the WPA key ?


If you are trying to connect the PSP through a network that belongs to you, then the network administrator is the person to ask for the WPA key.
The WPA is like a password. It protects the network from unauthorized access.

Sorry if this seems a repeat question but I can not find the answer on here... I have a Netgear 54 Mbps wireless router WGR614v6. When I plugged it in, it does not have a wireless signal. Please note that...


for the laptop to detect the router you need to install the router's driver in you laptop and follow the instructions while installing since its a new laptop it always need to be configured.

WPA for linksys


I would guess you are entering something incorrect with your security. If the wireless adapter on your XBOX wants a WPA then the wireless it is picking up has security on it however, it may be incorrectly set using WEP or WPA radius. Here is what *I* would do. Log in to your wireless router and remove all security. Go back to your XBOX and look for the signal for your wireless network. Now try to connect. Wireless connections can be a pain to configure sometimes but start first with no security and work yourself up. IF you can't get it working with security, make up a goofy SSID with NO security but don't broadcast it then you can connect the manual way through your XBOX specifying the SSID (not broadcasted) and no security that should do it. (Just a side note for my XBOX I bought a cheap Belkin 4 port router made it an access point for my existing wireless network and hardwired my XBOX to it. Works fine.)

How can I install a wireless usb adapter WG1111....


First put in the cd that came with the wireless USB adapter. Close the auto setup page(we will use windows wireless network manager which works better with windows firewall . Plug in the wireless adapter and the laptop will automatically install the driver. If for some strange reason it asks you to install new found hardware, follow the promts and install manually and select cd and the directory the WG1111 drivers are located. Press ok and wait for install. Restart the computer.

After restart the computer will come up with a caption New Wireless Networks found. Double click on the wireless Icon in the bottom left hand corner. It will open a seperate screen with all wireless connections avaliable to you. Might be 1 or more networks, depending on whether your neighbours have wireless networks. Anyway find your specific wireless network could be for example NetGear, Dlink, or my home network. Click on connect your wireless connection. Another smaller screen will appear with Key in your password twice( WEP key or WPA key)
Key in your key or password twice and apply or ok. It will connect and close screen.
Restart computer!
After restart the computer will pick up your connection automatically and your ready to go on line. If you move your mouse down to the icon with wireless network in bottom left hand corner it will show your wireless connection in a caption stating the connection name and how strogn signal is. Connection complete.
NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE A WIRELESS MODEM OR WIRELESS HUB CONNECTED TO YOU MODEM TO USE THE WIRELESS WG1111. THANKS!

This sounds like you have either WEP or WPA enable on the network you are trying to connect too. Are you connecting through a wireless network? If not try adding a passphrase using WPA-TKIP and see if that helps.

Verification and signal problems


Hi Sir F,

You don't need to do a re-install of the DLink WiFi adaptor since I believe it is running as it should (as you posted). All that is needed is to configure it to exclusively select only your NetGear WiFi Router. This could be done in the DLInk Wizard (Start/All Programs/DLink.../) set the DLInk to connect only to the SSID of your NetGear. Though it may pick up your neighbors WiFi, the DLink will only acknowledge the presence of the other WiFi but connect only and always to the NetGear.

A couple of other things that may help improve your WiFi connection. Use static IP add in your PC to match that of the NetGear, disable wireless security (WEP or WPA) but rather enable MAC filter and input that of your PC's WiFi Networking Card.

Should you need a more detailed instructions, pls post back the model of your router and the make/model of your PC as well as your OS.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
