If you are referring to air conditioning capacity required, I found the following web site to help calculate BTU's required.

I hope this helps.

The dryer is not fully drying clothes

Here are a few basic trouble shooting things to try to get you started. Is this a gas or electric dryer? I will assume electric. Check to make sure the heating element is heating up. You can do this by taking off the vent hose on back, putting the dryer on a hot dry cycle and feel the air coming out. You should have a very strong flow and after just a few minutes you should have hot air. If the air flow is weak, you need to clean the vent and lint tray with a flexible brush to clear any lint and debris from the air path. If the dryer is not blowing hot air it could be a thermostat, the heating element itself or even a bad circut breaker only allowing half of the 220 volt electric to work.

If you have a strong air flow, and hot air the next step is to hook the dryer up to the vent again, go outside and find where the dryer vent exits the home. At the vent exit if you have flaps covering the exit they should blow out fully when the dryer is running, and if there is no vent cover the air flow should be just as strang as it was at the back of the unit. If it is a weak flow you will need to clean or replace the vent from the dryer to outside the home. The most common cause of slow dry or incomplete drying is restricted air flow or the heater not working. Please let me know if any of this helped or fixed the problem. If not we can look into more possible solutions.

It runs long enough to dry a load but then when you try to do another one it just buzzes when you push the button to start it. If you wait awhile then it will work,... like it over heated or something.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

This is showing the symptoms of an air flow problem. I suspect that there is just enough air flow in the unit but when it shuts off the internal temps of the cabinet are providing enough heat to also cause the motor thermal overload to cycle.

You should break out the crevice tool and de-lint everything you can access. Also pull out the lint filter and wash it with white vinegar and water then soap and water. Fabric softener sheets material builds up on lint filters. It looks clean but air will not pass through the lint filter.

Additionally inspect the vent ducting inside and outside the of dryer for lint build up. Make sure you go outside the home and check the vent flapper at the through the wall connction for lint build up also. This is often where lint build up problems start and then migrate inward blocking air flow.

If all of the above is good you will have to check the blower wheel mounted on the motor drive shaft for signs of a broken hub or... fan blades. A broken fan will cause poor air flow.

The dryer should provide enough air flow to push a relaxed hand / wrist away from the connection point on the back of the dryer. If you do not have this kind of air flow at the back of the dryer connection you need to find out the cause. I.e. lint build up or a fan problem.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Where do the filters go in HEIL gas furnace Mfg# 697A

Hi, If this is a split system, look in the indoor unit to see if it is at the top, or bottom. This depends on if its a down flow or up flow unit. Sometimes they are in the hallway ceiling behind a grill that drops down. Walk through your home and look up for a grill. Look near the furnace down low also, they will put them in lots of places, but usually near the furnace. If no grill any where, it will have to go inside above or below the blower motor. You should see the opening where it lays with the arrow on the filter pointing in the direction of the air flow. If you have no grill, and there is not one in the furnace, you need to put one where the air is coming back to the unit inside to catch the dust. Please let me know if you found it and please rate me on this as I know you will be kind.
Sincerely,

My home air conditioning unit only blows cold air

You have an air flow problems. Clean the outside condenser coil I use on half baking soda and one half joy soadp squirt this on the coil take a coil brush that you can buy at any hardware store. and go up and down on the coil. then take the water hose and squirt it down to clean the soap and dirt off, It this doesn't solve it you will need to clean the fan blower motor the squrrel cage but don't get the motor wet. Next you will need to clean the evaporator coil just take the coil brush and go up and down to clean. This should solve your problem, What kind of readings did you get on the low side and high side. You should have a 40 degree drop across the evapartor. And the high side should be the out side temp and 30 degrees. If you have any questions you can email me at crislsparks@gmail .com. What kind of freon does it the unit take. It will tell you on the nameplate on the outside unit.

Over heats , and has lots of moisture vapor coming out of the bottom.it dries and everything ,but its like it's leaking water

The most likely cause is your home vent is clogged and the dryer has little or no air flow. The water is exiting the dryer with the air since there is little air flow which causes the "water leak". Clean your home vent all the way through and your dryer will probably also need a good cleaning. This should take care of the problem. Please rate this post.

Cloths are very warm but still wet

Look in the back at your exhaust vent make sure that it is not crimpt up in anyway preventing the heated moist air from flowing out to the out side of your home...also if there is not crimpts, go out side ur home where the vent comes out and be sure the air flow is good and there is not any restrictions.

Tumble dryer problem

Please refer to the following link for detailed instructions on how to diagnose you dryer problem.

http://www.fixya.com/support/r630242-dryer_runs_but_not_heat

If you only changed the vent hose on the back of the dryer, it may not have been enough. Especially, if your vent line runs under the house, or through an attic. If you have long exhaust run from the point where the dryer connects to the exhaust, to where it exits your home, you may have a clog EXTERNAL to the dryer. You need to trace the exhaust line and locate the cause of the air flow blockage.

Try removing the vent hose on the back of the dryer and check for air flow. If you still don't have air flow, you have a clog INTERNAL to the dryer and you will need to open the unit and check the blower fan assembly under the lint screen. If you have air flow and still do not have any heat, please refer to the link I provided for advice on how to determine what may be source of the heating circuit failure. If you need further assistance, or have questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Icy connection to house and inside unit

In the cooling cycle, a low "freon" charge or low air flow can cause the line set to ice up. Check your air filter to be sure that low air flow is not just a dirty filter; then call for a system check up. (you do need your vents open throughout the home)
