1st, Unplug the Dryer from the Power Supply.
You will need the Exact recommended Replacement "Idler Pulley".
With the Belt Ribs Facing Toward the Dryer Drum, position the belt on the tell tale Ring Mark on the Drum letting the Belt Hang Down below the Drum.
Place The New Idler Pulley into the Slots on the Inside Dryer Bottom located near the Motor Mounted Pulley.
(Face The Idler Pulley Toward The Motor Mounted Pulley)
(Hold the Idler Pulley in place in the slots)
Take the "Hanging Belt" & run the Whole Loop "UNDER" the Idler Pulley & then
Attach the "Belt Loop" "AROUND" The Motor Mounted Pulley.
That should do it.
Put the rest of the Dryer Back Together...Done!
Good Luck,
Vinnie

SOURCE: idler spring came off when belt broke, not sure

Takes patients but can be done. First place idler arm in position then connect spring. Try and hold firmly while you place belt through pulley and fold around motor shaft. If installed right ,the pulley will maintain a constant pressure on the belt.

Can you show me the correct diagram for the drive belt on a 44in Dixon zero turn mower

Hope this helps. Serpentine Blade Drive Belt
1 Lower the mower deck to its lowest position.
2 Route the serpentine blade drive belt (part number 6109) onto the V-pulleys located on the mower deck. One double pulley is located at the front of the deck near the center. The other two pulleys are located near each side of the deck. Route the belt around the outside -- the side toward the outer edge of the mower deck -- of each pulley. For the double pulley near the front of the deck, route the belt around the lower pulley (part number 6058) only. If pulleys are fitted with belt guards, work the belt in between the pulley and shield.
3 Push the idler pulley toward the center of the deck with your hand. The idler pulley (part number 6059) is the fourth pulley on the deck and is located near the rear of the deck. It is the only movable pulley on the deck. Wrap the belt around the side of the pulley nearest the edge of the deck. Release the idler pulley to place tension on the belt. No adjustment is necessary because the serpentine idler spring (part number 6065), located on the idler pulley, adjusts the belt to the correct tension.

WHO DO YOU TIGHTEN THE MOWER DECK BELT TENSON?

Not sure of your model but you can find the Craftsman web site and get a diagram. Most of the decks I have come in contact with will use an idler type pully somewhere in the belt route that will move in or out etc. to take up slack in belt.Sometimes a spring does the job by holding a pulley against the belt so check to make sure all the pulleys are ok and all the springs are ok.Hope this helps.Rick

I have a Cub cadet my 1018 with a 42 inch deck my iderlerspringcameoffneedtoknowbothbothplaceoneachendtoreconnect

Go to your local cub dealer with the modle number of the deck. They have diagrams that will show how to connect the spring correctly. If the spring came off it may have lost tension or part of the hooks on the end of the spring broke off. I would get a new spring. I have also seen the the idler pully get sloppy and not keep the idler pully properly lined up with the other pulleys. The belt will then ride up off the pulley and the spring will come off.

I have a Sears Garden Tractor with a 48" mower deck. By working in long, thick grass I broke the mower belt -- not the one that transmits power from the engine, but the belt that sits in a pulley on...

I believe that tensioner pully has to be loosend up and moved.
Here are the instructions for this.
  • Place the deck in the lowest position using the hydraulic piston (if applicable) or the manual cutting-height adjuster.

  • 2

Remove the deck-to-PTO belt from the PTO by releasing tension on the idler-arm pulley. This is a spring-loaded handle that turns in only one direction by hand and relieves the tension on the belt. Slip the deck-to-PTO belt off the PTO pulley after the tension is relieved.

  • 3

Remove the deck from underneath the mower or tractor.

  • 4

Locate any belt stops and loosen them with the ratchet wrench and proper socket. Belt stops are located on the deck and are the small metal brackets that guide and secure the belt to the pulleys so it will not jump off when under heavy use, or stretch from normal wear.

  • 5

Remove any pulley covers by removing the retaining screws using the ratchet wrench and a socket.

  • 6

Loosen the idler-pulley retaining bolt (located on the underside of the mower deck) to replace the deck-to-PTO belt. Removing the bolt is not necessary. Loosen the pulley enough to wiggle the belt free from the pulley and remove and replace the belt.

  • 7

Remove any arbor covers (if applicable) that conceal the arbor pulleys by removing the retaining screws with the ratchet wrench and a socket to replace the mower arbor belt.

  • 8

Locate the tensioner pulley on the mower arbor belt to replace it. Loosen the tensioner pulley bolt enough to slide it and release tension from the belt. Remove the belt from the arbor pulleys and replace it.

  • 9

Slide the tensioner pulley back leaving about 1/2-inch of play in the belt and tighten the bolt. Reverse the procedure to put the rest of the mower deck back together and reinstall on the mower or tractor.

How do you put the drive belt for the hydrostatic drive on?

You'll be working underneath the mower, so it is helpful to raise the mower chassis up -- at least in back. Use your automobile jack, then put jackstands underneath the chassis to do this. Take off the deck drive belt first by releasing the idler spring(s). Unbolt and remove the "anchor" that keeps the PTO clutch from rotating. Disconnect the electrical wires leading to the PTO. Release the tension on the idler for the hydrostatic drive belt. Now you can thread the new hydrostatic belt over the engine pulley and around both wheel motor pulleys. The idler pulley presses it inward to provide tension. Refasten the idler spring - a pair of channellock pliers works well to hold and pull the spring. Now reinstall the wires and the PTO anchor, then the mower deck belt. Good luck! Please rate my answer if helpful, thanks!

609 yard machine tractor idler pulley spring broke

Here's a diagram, not a great copy, but it may help:
    bdb5270.jpg

The spring hooks to the idler arm on the opposite end from where the pulley is mounted. The other end of the spring looks like it hooks to a raised tab on the deck, straight behind the left mower spindle. Hope this helps you, please rate my solution if so, thanks!
