I initially had the same problem and then found I had to set the paper type to TTR and by doing so the ribbon take-up spindle started turning, the default paper type DT does not make the spindle turn.

Hi, I've not seen that many of these but i see all sorts of thermals daily....I would turn the power off, take off the side cover (think its several phillips screws accessed by lifting the lid!) open the printhead and move the platen , the ribbon spools forward and backwards, can't remember if there is a feeed belt, or gears.. but check for broken gears, or worn drive belt..... if you cant see anything, if there is a printhead pressure knob..turn it to max..... if that doesnt work, sounds like the takeup clutch has gone... i know of one company that service intermec machines at a reasonable price... they are Precision Peripherals Ltd , Mention 'Markus' and they will sort you out with a good price!! ive used them before, they're good.. email or call him on 01635206820 week days..... hope this info is of use to you!!

How to remove ribbon

This comes out of the manual.....

While turning the ribbon take-up spindle release knob counterclockwise, squeeze the
ribbon against the ribbon take-up spindle tension blades.

When the tension blades collapse into the ribbon take-up spindle, hold the release knob
and rotate the spent ribbon toward the rear of the printer. Then, slide the ribbon off the
ribbon take-up spindle.

Now sometimes the ribbon gets wound so darn tight that it might take "Superman Strength Hands" to make this work. In this case I use a razor blade and cut the ribbon off. If you do this please be VERY CAREFUL and, as you get more and more ribbon off keep trying the "NORMAL" method. When you get down to the end make sure you don't cut so hard as to scratch the take up spindle.

Good Luck

Please can you send me a picture of how to install the ribbon in to the Remington Standard No.12 typewriter. Or tell me how to thread the ribbon.

Hi, first of all there is no picture diagram for this and this method am giving you is what has been used to install ribbon on different typewriters.
  • Remove the existing ribbon. Note the path that the ribbon takes as it goes from one spool to the other.
  • Roll the ribbon entirely on to one of the two reels if your replacement ribbon didn't come with a take-up reel. If your new ribbon has a take-up reel, skip this step.
  • Attach the end of the new ribbon to the take-up reel if your new ribbon doesn't already have one. In most cases, there is a sharp arrow shaped piece on the reel. Use that arrow to penetrate the ribbon and make a few winds of ribbon around the take-up reel.
  • Slip the take-up reel on the take-up spindle on the right side of the typewriter. Align any tabs designed to turn the reel to move the ribbon during typing.
  • Feed the ribbon through the path you noted when removing the old ribbon and place the main ribbon on the spindle. Give the take-up reel a few turns to make sure the ribbon moves freely through the typewriter mechanism.

The ribbon does not feel when I calibrate the printer.

I believe you mean Feed.
1. ensure the ribbon is above the snap plate and the label stock is below the snap plate in the 'throat' of the printer. Be sure the ribbon pulls withoout restriction with the head open.
2. Without ribbon attached to the take-up spindle, does the take-up spindle still spin? If not, check the belt/pulley inside rear cover of printer.
3. Take-up spindle (and feed spindle, for that matter) have a clutch mechanism that should have about 400 g of pull/resistance. If the clutch is slipping, that may cause ribbon to not feed.

I have a zebra z6mplus the ribbon keeps breaking

You may have your contrast set too high. If it breaks as it feeds under the printhead (while printing) your contrast may be set too high.
You also could have a ribbon spindle issue. Are both ribbon spindles turning?

There are two spools for the ribbon and one spool for the ticket roll. The first spool on which the ribbon is first attached no longer rotates, while the secon spool still wants to rotate (thus resulting...

There is one motor and two belts - one belf for each ribbon spool. It's possible the belts are the problem, but it sounds more like it's the ribbon spindle itself. The spindles contain clutches, and when the clutches bind up the spindles don't want to turn. Sounds like you need a new ribbon spindle.

Error code 754

It's very possible you are not installing the ribbon properly.
When loading a new ribbon on a Monarch printer, you must save the plastic ribbon core (it's butter yellow in color) from the previous roll of ribbon. The core is what the ribbon is wound up on.
Do not throw away this plastic core - you need it for the next roll of ribbon you load!
You have to move this now empty core from the back ribbon spindle and slide it on the front ribbon spindle. You then load the new ribbon on the back spindle and attach the ribbon end to the empty plastic ribbon core on the front spindle.
You CAN NOT just tape the ribbon to the front spindle. You must have an empty ribbon core to attach the new ribbon to. The printer will give a 754 error unless you have two plastic cores on the two spindles. It can also give a 754 error if the ribbon is not loaded properly, and also if you have a bad motherboard. There are no ribbon sensors, so that's never going to be a problem...

The printer say there is no ribon but i put a new one and still it's not working

try to install again but this time make sure you follow the manual especially on step 5,6 and 7 I list down again the step from the manual 5: Load the new roll of print ribbon on the cartridge. ? Put the full spool of ribbon on the supply spindle of the ribbon cartridge. Push until the spool clicks onto the spindle. ? Put the empty take-up spool on the spindle with the solid black gear. Push until the spool clicks onto the spindle. 6: Replace the loaded ribbon cartridge in the printer. ? Make sure both spindles rest in the black supports on the left side of the printer. ? Make sure the ribbon cartridge handle rests in the supports on the right side of the printer. ? Make sure to install the full, new spool toward the card tray of the printer. 7 Close the printer cover. Press down firmly to latch it.
