SOURCE: I need to replace the timer on a series 800 washer

Fix the timer on the washer so that it fills with the correct amount of water, and so there is the correct amount of time for each cycle. Make sure the washer is unplugged and take off the control knobs and the panel that lays over the knobs. The knobs could be either at the front or back of the machine. Check the wires that link the timer to other areas of the washer. If they are slack, push them further into place with pliers.

Change the timer by disconnecting the old one. Make sure the new timer is made for the brand of washer that you own. Unhook the wires to the old timer one at a time and connect each wire to the new timer.

SOURCE: Kenmore Series 80 Washer timer knob spins

Something in the timer came apart. Timer needs replaced. When in good working order, the timer should ONLY ever be turned clockwise..Reversing this could break it.

My drier timer doesn't always advance to the next minute - it just gets stuck on a minute and continues to tumble but not dry

My older dryer and washer use to do the same thing...

Here is why: There are copper contacts on the inside of timer that need to make "contact" with the next little contact in order to "advance" through the cycle.

Two solutions for a fix...ya! (get it? Fixya! lol) (one is free!!)

Fix#1 (this worked on both my machines) : Advance the timer clockwise about 100-200 times. (you'll here click, click , click and so on and your hand will get tired but works 80% of the time). What this does is "clean" the contacts.

Fix#2: Replace the timer. You can enter your model number at parts store below and see a complete parts breakdown and order and replace timer.

Goodluck!

My Kenmore HE4 electric dryer runs for 2 minutes and stops

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
The timer could be the problem. To check this, turn the timer to a timed cycle say 30 minutes or so then time it. If in 30 minutes the timer hasn't moved and the dryer is still on, the timer is faulty replac it. If in 30 minutes the dryer is off, the heating element is your problem

Heating Element
This is the most likely cause for some dryers timer not advancing. Some dryers have two heating elements and if one goes out the timer will not advance if you use it on an automatic cycle but you will still feel heat inside the tub. Replace it

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer not heating and not cutting off

I had an identical problem to yours this weekend with my Kenmore dryer. There were 2 problems.

1. Timer was broken. Does not advance to "OFF" position on timed dry, however it still works for auto-dry.

2. Thermal fuse was blown. Upon replacing, dryer heated up normally.

I believe when the timer broke, the dryer had kept running and blew the thermal fuse. On Sears' website, thermal fuse is $5.30, timer is roughly $80.

Kenmore Dishwasher 587.15163401 knob stuck mid-cycle

See if it is stuck on a water heat cycle. if the heater circuit or the thermostat is not working properly it will continue to run looking for a rise in temperature. If these are in working order the timer it self could be sticking and not advancing.

Kenmore Dryer Timer does not advance

Timer resistance is way too low. You may have misswired the new timer. Basically, when the dryer motor is running, the timer motor gets voltage 115 volts.
