Panasonic NV DS28

My Panasonic Camcorder NV DS28 does not operate in VCR mode and seems to feed the tape from the cassette storage spool but the tension spool doesn't take up any slack. Consequently I end up with tape flowing out of the cassette..... I have an idea this could be due to some drive belt having broken but I need a Service Manual to be able to fix it.... Any ideas ???..... Al

It is more than likely a belt. Probably a square type belt. They typically have a life span of a decade or so but when they start to go they go quick. Letting them sit around unused for periods will actually make them more prone to die. A service manual is a best bet - try google searching or eBay - but you can track down the parts via Sears Parts direct. There are several parts sourced on line but I have great luck with Sears. Enter the make and model and see what it lists. Common things like belts for vcr, cassette decks, vid cameras, were used in many different things over time so they actually have stuff in stock still. Also check YouTube for how-to videos, as most of these repairs are common and similar process for different machines.

I have a VCR Panasonic NV - FJ623 and when I insert a video cassette into it for playback or recording purposes,it always ejects the video cassette. Can you help, please?

I'ts likely that the record sensor that pushes on the tab on the tape is bent or broken. Making the VCR think you are trying to record on to a protected tape.

Panasonic NV HD630 is showing error f06 when the eject button is pressed. The tape cassette seems to be locked in and does not rise. I have removed the top. The tape is withdrawn back to the cassette....

You have a K-Deck mechanism. F06 means the mechanism locks after unload. The cause of this is the load motor or the carriage alignment.
If you enter "Panasonic K-Deck" into google you should find service information and a guide to getting the tape out - all free!

Panasonic NV-DS65 won't eject a tape

It sounds that what's happened is your idler wheel is slipping or even your main drive belt.
When you loaded the tape it was taken by tape guides around the video drum. When you pressed eject the tape guides returned to their proper places but the tape stayedin a loop around the mechanism because the take up spool had no drive to pull the tape back into the cassette. When you've tried to pull the cassette out of the camera that loop of tape has snagged on part of the mechanism and that's what is stopping the cassette from being removed. I'm afraid the tape would be damaged at that spot so you may as well simply snip it with a pair of long bladed scissors and the cassette will pull straight out.
What is then required is either the drive belt changed or the idler wheel assembly changed. Either way a service center will be required unless yourself or a friend is able to buy the parts (not expensive) and do the work required.

Good luck

I cant eject my Panasonic NV-GS55 Mini DV Digital video cassette

Try ejecting cassette whilst powered from AC Adaptor. Secondly, try operating Eject from powered off mode. If operation LED starts flashing after any of these attempts, the mechanism is probably jammed or has become mis-timed. Unfortunately this requires professional intervention to avoid further damage to your equipment.
I hope this information is of assistance!

Vcr will not play tapes,it ejects the tape after a few seconds

This may be caused by the mode switch.
By the way it uses a K-Deck Mechanism.

NEED HELP

G'day,

I also have the same problem and after almost buying a replacement I thought I would try one time to get it to go.

What I did was start the cam without a tape in it, let it bring up the little red icon indicating no tape inserted, (it hadn't started flashing "PLEASE RE-OPERATE AFTER PUSHING RESET BUTTON" at this stage) then I inserted my tape. Hey presto, it works although for how long I don't know. I'll immediately start burn my tapes to disc while the going is good.

Hope this helps someone

Problem with Panasonic Camcorder NV-DS28

From speaking to a repair centre this is a very common problem with Panasonic camcorders.
I got the impression it was a panasonic problem with a connector that needed either cleaning or replacing.
There are 2 fixes, one is cheap quick and temporary.
The other involves sending the camcorder away to be professionally repaired, it should cost the minimum fee, which was £50 in 2007.

As for the cheap version, it involved turning the camcorder off and hitting it against a copy of the yellow pages and turning on again.  This worked for long enough to record my 2nd daughters birth.
