SOURCE: need to add color to incoming msg from manager

I'm not looking at the Outlook menus right now, just Outlook express but there should be the same features. Look for a "Tools" option on the menu bar near the top.. Under "Tools" look for "Mesage Rules". Click on that, then select "Mail".

In Outlook Express there are Conditions and Actions you can select. Select "Where the From line contains people". Near the bottom there is a "Rule Description". Click on "Contains people" then either enter the boss's email or select his email by using the address book option.

For the Action section, select "Highlight it with color". In the Rule Description area, click on "Color" which will allow you to change the color to whatever you choose.

Again, the exact options and menus may be off as I'm looking at the options within Outlook Express. Outlook is a more robust product so anything Outlook Express has, you should also have.

Good luck!

SOURCE: Entourage Error 3259

This may be due to the means of authentication being used -- by the STMP server you are sending to and/or the authentication options selected in your Entourage setup. Mail servers commonly establish restrictions based on authentication to restrict who can send mail through them as a means of preventing spam.

Cable companies for example, and possibly your campus network, often restrict the sending of Mail to those computers that have a local connection to their network based on the IP address they are using -- i.e. where you plugged in or which wireless adapter you are connected to. Alternatively, many others require your mail client to present your user name and password to authenticate... or possibly to authenticate only in those cases when you are not connected locally.

So... to get an iron clad answer, you need to find out from the Mail server administrators what type of authentication is required. This information is often listed on "help" web pages describing how to set up your mail client... or call them if you can. Alternatively, check your Entourage setup to see how it is contacting the server for outgoing mail. Try changing the authentication method to use Password authentication if it is not already. Ultimately, the mail administrator for your Mail server is likely your best help resource.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: entourage chrashes when I delete sent messages

Hi,

If you already rebuilt the Database and still crashing, that means that your Database(Main Identity) is already corrupted and you need to start a fresh database.

Try deleting the messages in your Webmail if you're using IMAP account. Most likely, that message that was stucked in your deleted items folder is causing the issue.

If you have TimeMachine enabled, restore to the date when Entouarge last worked.

How do a delete an incoming mail which seems to be stuck and blocking rest of incoming mail

I suggest logging directly into the webmail interface through your browser. Most Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have a web based interface (much like Gmaile and Hotmail/MSN) where you can login (using your email address and account password) and access your email that way. You can simply review the messages in your Inbox and delete anything you do not want to download.

How do I block incoming e-mails

You can block incoming e-mails from a specific person or from all email coming from a specific email provider by using Yahoo Mail\'s filter function.

Open an email from a sender you want to block. Look at the toolbar above the message. You\'ll see "Delete, Move, Spam, More". Click on "More".

A drop-down menu appears. Just under "Print", you\'ll see "Filter Emails Like These..." Click on that.

12ce8bf1-29f2-45b9-babc-373e9711e1f3.jpg

Name: Fill in the name of the person or leave it blank.

The boxes for Sender, Recipient, Subject, and Email Body all have the same dropdown menu:

251d819b-3e8f-4936-8ec3-8a705c5df317.jpg

How to use these dropdown menu choices: For example, if you want to block every email from an email account at aol.com, you could choose "ends with" and type in "aol.com". The other options work in similar fashion. You could use the "Subject" field to block all messages about, for example, "college reunion" or "Viagra" or "pron".

Click on the last item, "Then move the message to:" to see a list of all your email folders. If you never want to see messages from blocked senders, choose "Trash" and Yahoo! Mail will delete the message before you ever see it.

Bonus: Once you\'ve learned how to use filters, you can also set up a folder called, for example, "Family". Then you can open an email from a family member, click on the "More" and then the "Filter Emails Like This..." options and you\'ll see the person\'s name and email address filled in. Simply change the "Then move the message to:" to your "Family" folder, and Yahoo! Mail will always file all your family email messages in one folder. To read them, open the folder and you can easily find all family email messages in one place.

Blocked emails

Yahoo! Mail can block all mail from up to 500 email addresses. All mail from these senders will be automatically deleted before you see it.Do not let the high number of potential addresses to block lure you into fighting spam with this, though. Spammers can use a fresh address (or domain) for just about every message.
Use the list of blocked senders for individual senders whose messages you don't want to receive but can't stop easily. Instead of deleting every incoming mail manually, you can have Yahoo! Mail do the job.

My email address is [email protected] What is my incoming and out going info. i am setting up my email account in my new macbook pro.

  1. What email program are you using? Entourage (Microsoft) or Mail (Apples pre-installed Mail program).
  2. What is the Postcode of your suburb?
Generally, the mail settings are something like :

POP Settings
  • INCOMING: pop.sbcglobal.net
  • OUTGOING: smtp.sbcglobal.net

OR
  • INCOMING: mail.sbcglobal.net
  • OUTGOING: mail.sbcglobal.net

You can try both of these out. If one of them works, let me know (and rate).

If they don't, then reply back with your postcode number so I can retrieve the settings for you.

I am having problems setting up outlook 2007 for my yahoo.es address.what are the incoming and outgoing mail settings. when I try to do the auto set up it doesnt seem to recognise my network password for...

Here’s how you can read your Yahoo! Mail Plus email using Outlook 2007:
  1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings.

Note: If you do not see Account Settings, place your cursor over the two arrows at the bottom of the list to display more choices.
  2. On the E-mail tab, click New. The Add New E-mail Account dialog box appears.
  3. Select the Manually configure server settings or additional server types checkbox. Click Next. The Choose E-mail Service screen appears.
  4. Select Internet E-mail, and click Next. The Internet E-Mail Settings screen appears.
  5. Complete the fields as follows:
    • Your Name: Type your name as you’d like it to appear when you send an email message.

E-Mail Address: Type your Yahoo! Mail Plus email address (for example, [email protected]).

Account Type: Select POP3 from the pull-down menu.

      Incoming mail server: Type plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com.

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Type smtp.mail.yahoo.com.
    • Select the Remember Password checkbox if you don't want Outlook to prompt you for your password each time you check your mail.
    • Do not select the Require logon using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) checkbox.
  6. Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  7. Select the Outgoing Server tab:
    • Select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
    • Make sure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
  8. Click the Advanced tab:
    • For Incoming Server (POP3), select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox. The number in the Incoming Server (POP3) field automatically changes from 110 to 995. If it doesn’t, type 995.
    • In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) field, type 465. Under Outgoing Server (SMTP), select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox.
    • Next to Use the following type of encrypted connection, select SSL from the pull-down menu.
    • If want to keep a copy of your email messages on the Yahoo! Mail server, select the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox. If you want to delete your messages from the Yahoo! Mail server after viewing them in Outlook, leave the box unchecked.
    • If you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your computer, select the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox. If you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! server after Outlook has downloaded them onto your computer, leave the box unchecked.

Note: After your messages are deleted from the server, we cannot retrieve them.
  9. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  10. Click Next to continue. The Congratulations screen appears.
  11. Click Finish to close the Add New E-mail Account dialog box.
  12. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.

Troubleshooting tips
If you still can’t send Yahoo! Mail from Outlook 2007, you might be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port. If this is the case, try using port 587 when sending email via Yahoo!’s SMTP server. To make this change:
  1. From the Tools menu, select Account Settings. The Account Settings dialog box appears.
  2. Double-click your Yahoo! Mail Plus account. The Change E-mail Account dialog box appears.
  3. Click More Settings. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  4. Click the Advanced tab.
  5. In the Outgoing Server (SMTP) box, type 587.
  6. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  7. Click Next to continue. The Congratulations screen appears.
  8. Click Finish to close the Change E-mail Account dialog box.
  9. Click Close to close the Account Settings dialog box.

All incoming mail messages going directly to delete folder

Check for "mail-processing-rules" ("when the XXX field contains the text YYY, MOVE the message to the DELETED ITEMS folder").

Setup a new MSN/HOTMAIL ID, on a different computer, and see if messages to that ID get routed to that DELETED ITEMS folder.
