Blinking panal lights/no responseno communication w/computer.Help

Good Morning. There was a power outage yesterday. Last night, I found an error code 0x866a7a16 on the screen panal of my HP officejet 7410 All-In-One. I have Windows XP. The PRINT On button,FAX Auto Answer button and Explanation Point button continue to flash. I powered down, changed the USB cable, pressed every button on the panel and get no response. I also tried to remove the print cartridges but they are locked in place. I have power but no responses. Tryed to do a print from my computer and got a message my computer could not communicate with the printer. Can you help me? Thanks. Jan

Hi you can try these steps:

  1. Turn the product off.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the product.
  3. Wait 30 seconds, and then connect the power cord to the product.
  4. Turn the product on.
  5. Make a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the control panel.
  • If the copy job is successful, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the error message displays again, proceed to the next solution.
2)
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the product.
  2. Press and hold # and 3 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons.
  3. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
    • If the partial reset resolves the issue, you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
    • If the error message displays again, proceed to the next step to try a semi-full reset.
  4. Disconnect the power cord from the product.
  5. Press and hold # and 6 while reconnecting the power cord to the product, and then release both buttons.
  6. Try making a color copy by pressing the Start Copy Color button on the product control panel.
  7. the # and 6 will reset the whole printer as it is factory, I hope it will work fine!!Best of luck!!

Assuming that you have no other information in the error message, most of these errors indicate an internal problem with the printer. With the printer plugged in, remove the USB cable from the printer (removing it from the computer shouldn't be needed in this case), remove the ink cartridges from the unit, then wait until the insert cartridges message appears. Now unplug the printer's power cord and wait 60 seconds. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the unit if it doesn't turn on on its own. Reinsert the ink cartridges and close all the doors on the unit. Print a calibration page if you get the prompt for it. Finally reconnect the USB cable and try to print normally. If these steps fail, the printer needs service at HP.

I hope this helps.

HP 7410 will not boot. It powers up and the HP logo screen flashe

This was solved really well on this blog. It is some problem with the wifi board. If you disconnect it (no so hard and well explained on the blog) you will have network printing over a cable but no wireless.

Error code 0x886a789a on hp officejet 7410 all in one I get the blue screen with the same error code and nothing works. any help?

Some common steps to take are documented here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00489814&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=391194

A forum that discusses similar issues with an older model can be found here: http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/inkjet/24964

Note that there is a pretty good possibility that this will culminate in the device requiring servicing. My experience with these all in one's is that (1) finding parts, even simple consumables like pick up rollers is next to impossible to find and (2) If you aren't willing to do it yourself the cost will encourage you to shop for a new one.

I hope this helps.

Printer wont power up

I found over 50 people online that had the same problem which appears to be a fatal software problem. One person had a partial fix which invoolved unpluging the cable to the wireless card and leaving it unpluged and using cable to connect printer to the network.

Try this: it's worked for nearly everone who's tried it. Unfortunantly, you lose your wireless capabilities, but at leat you're not left with a $500 paper weight:

(It's interesting that with the exception of the original post, this issue is suddendly appearing on numerous sites. Nearly all of the posts occured during the last two months)
