Question about Standard (CRT) Televisions

How do I take apart the cabinet on small 12 inch TV

  • It doesn't seem it should be that hard - I think there is a trick to it. I have removed the obvious screws
  • The TV I think just needs fuse as it shows no red light at all when connected to power.
  • I had been away for 3 months and on returning pressed the remote and a static like charge occurred with a "pop".
  • Its about 9 years old , very little use.

Re: How do I take apart the cabinet on small 12 inch TV

Is there a hidden screw under a lable or nameplate? Sometimes if there is no screw it needs a good "pop" to get it open as they used alot of plastic snaps to hold things together.

I just purchased a rca floor model tv, 27 inch I

I don't like to post anything without some kind sort of solution but this one's been tough.

For a list of what seems to be a chronic issue with RCA. I included a list.

I did come across these two posts, hope it helps.

"well people don't be afraid all you have to do is to change a Horizontal out put transistor D3402 and that all is common problem I am a tv technician and already know that this kind of problem is normal good luck"

"It is the front panel on the tv (button panel). I took my friends tv apart and unplugged the button panel from the circuit board before it turned it's self off and the tv worked fine. It didn't turn off and on or change channels on it's own. The problem that I found is that this part is hard to find, online anyway. It can be fixed by a repair shop, but they will want to charge you 100.00+ dollars to it. It's simple to take apart and simple to install. The Tv is already messed up anyway, why not give it a shot if you think you can."

Sony 36' TV Volume Goes up on own/Stuck on Video 2

There's a setting in the menu. I think it's called "smart audio". It's supposed to adjust the volume automatically for commercials. But I don't think it works that well. Give that a try.

COld Solder/Short

The silver box where the cable plugs into is the TUNER,there are no fuses in there and the problem is not likely to be there, the loose conection could be anywhere but you have a few places to check, with the tv unplug from the wall you can safely check for loose conections in the power supply area and around the output transistor including the areas of the horizontal drive circuit and output transformer, those are the areas most likely to the symptoms you have but you can also check the edges of the chassis for a broken or crack board.Let Us know if you need more help.Be careful when you are checking for conections.
