Inspire P7800 Speaker System, no sound

My computer has been boxed up for about a year and I am getting it all set up again. I am unable to get my speakers to work. I don't think it's the sound card. I have the Inspire P7800 (7.1 Speakers) with the Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card. My operating system is windows XP. I have tripple checked everything and all wiring is correct. I just get no sound. I knlow I'm missing something but not sure what.

I did all that and it should be working but it's not. I plugged in my laptop as the external device to check the speakers themselves and got no sound that way either. The sound card itself is recognized by my computer and the device manager says it is wrorking properly. I've done every troubleshooter I've got and can't figure it out. I'v tried going through Creative Labs' website for support but their website keeps giving me error messages so I gave up there and they have no phone number you can call so I guess I'm buying new sound card and speakers. Thanks for trying to help.

First thing is to check the device manager, to see if the audio device is working. Next is to check all the sound settings in XP.
Just to make sure, I'd suggest you also try plugging a headset or other speaker set to make sure it is not the speakers.
Detailed instructions for audio troubleshooting in XP are here.

Hope it works out.

The speakers for my Bose 123 suddenly don't work for any source. It had worked well for years. Mute is off. What can I do?

It sounds to me like the Bose 123 is to blame not the speakers. I think you can test the speakers by connecting a 1.5 volt battery for a short while (few seconds) accross any of the speakers terminals. Disconected from the amp. If they are working it will go POP
If it's the Bose itself then the main amp inside has failed.

SPEAKERS DON'T WORK WHEN I PLUG THEM IN.

desktop or laptop computer ?

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it

click start control panel administration tools computer management device manager scroll to sound video and game controllers you might see a yellow question exclamation mark? ! or a red X Right click to

reinstall drivers

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers make sure you have selected the

(appropriate speakers) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the selected correct speaker settings there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices select advanced there might be a tick in the mute box untick it

if his does not fix the problem

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker

volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar for any

further volume control settings you will need to right click on the speaker volume icon system select adjust volume

click start control panel sounds and audio volume advanced speakers select the appropriate speakers

from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand system

speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check

the speaker plug/outlets is usually at the back of the computer or if its a laptop on the side

you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make

sure the connection is good with no dust as dust causes static electricity

clean your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is

no MOISTURE in the air line or use a can of compressed air specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit

dust causes static to build up in a computer

if its a desktop swap the speakers around if one still does not work its either a faulty speaker or the speaker connection

hope this helps

Gateway Internal Speakers Stopped Working

click on Start / Control Panel / Sounds And Audio Devices

look at Speaker Settings / Advanced -- be sure it is set to your internal speakers.

the tabs across the top; go to Audio. -- be sure it is set to your sound card. For example, mine is "SoundMax Digital Audio" ... If there is another device you use that plugs into your USB, it could have stuck on "USB Codex". If it is, just put it on "NameOfSound Card" ...

Good luck, Don't be afraid to look all around inside the Sounds And Audio Devices box. And is this helped, please take a sec to rate me. Thanks!

I have an audio system Creative Inspire p7800 and i can't find the cd to install it. I only have audio in 2 speakers. I want 5.1

actually two speakers are working because you are connecting the audio input cable to built in on board sound card jacks.
if you want 5.1 you have to connect the 5.1 sound card

I have a similar reoccuring problem with the left channel on my speakers. All of a sudden, while playing music or whatever, the left channel jusr dies. Turning the system off and then on again from the conrol unit does not remedy the situation. By chance, I discovered a workaround to get the left channel working again: Push the main power switch of the subwoofer until it almost switches off and then release it so that the power is never actually switched off. Now a click is heard in the system and the left channel comes alive again. This is quite annoying and seems to have something to do with switches in the subwoofer. Low quality components may have been used. I 've been thinking of getting another 2.1 system, but it's not easy to find one... Maybe I should open the subwoofer box and go through the switches and possibly hardwire some connections...

My wife was hitting buttons on our satellite remote and the audio no longer works. She thinks the tv is the problem. I have tried all of the Satellite volume menus and am unable to get the sound back on.

TV: check for SAP or MTS features, set them to STEREO. Also, verify that the TV Speakers are set to ON.

Cable Box: If the box has volume controls, make the volume is turned up. Also, check for the SAP or MTS feature. Again, set this to STEREO.

I hope this was helpful, best wishes.

Creative Inspire 5200 system won't work

Hi. Check your speaker system with a different audio device like iPod or any MP3 Player using the same jacks. If the speaker system gives out sounds then nothing is wrong with it... if no sounds come out, then you know what I mean...

Try to replace the speaker of your sub-woofer... maybe that can fix it!

Volume Control Unit has gone bad

The volume control is nothing more than small complicated rheostat.
If you don't know electronics take it to a radio repair shop. Just tell the repair guy to build you a new one using the old cord. That is if the cord is not what is bad! Take the entire unit with you. For a trained repair man it should be a easy thing to rebuild. I own a P7800 and if the control unit should break that is just what I would do.
