I would suggest that the dehumidifier is low on freon and the compressor is not kicking in,thus no air movement

Try feeling both sides of the outside of the bucket and make sure the bucket is flush with the dehumidifier. If one side is sticking out more than the other it may notbe engaged correctly which will cause a full bucket notification. If everything checks out ok there try takng the bucket out and push in on the button that the lever from the bucket engages on at the dehumidifier. If the light turns off after you push on the red button that means the bucket is not engaging correctly. If the red light stays on and it doesnt make a difference he button sensor may be defective.

Kenmore dehumidifier compressor on but doesn't collect water

clean the condenser in the front or the filter if it has one. no air flow to cool it down will result in overheating and no condensation collection across the evaporator coil.

Not building up much water in the bucket set at 35 sometimes 50 small amount of condensation on top of machine

its low on refrigerant, this is normal after about 2-3 years use,it costs about $50-$125 to evacuate old refrigerant and seal and recharge system with new proper amount of refrigerant being it R134a or R22 freon

Had the dehumidifier about 7 years & it has worked

It may simply be a case of one of the following:

1. The humidity extraction level is set to high. If your unit has an LED readout, lower it to 32 to 35%.

2. Remove and check the air intake filter. It may be dirty or clogged. Clean the filter if necessary.

3. Obstructed air space. You must maintain a minimum of 12" of free air space around the entire unit, while in operation.

4. The ambient air temperature is to cold for the unit to function properly. This usually occurs in basement applications. Where the ambient air temp at floor level is colder the air temp at chest level. Dehumidifiers (Unless, it's a Low Temp Model) strain at temps between 40 & 60 degrees F. Place the unit up off the floor or a sturdy table, counter top, etc. that will handle the weight of the unit, plus a full bucket of water.

The above were simple solutions to simple problems. The more critical ones would involve reiar or replacement.

1. Low refrigerant gas. Compressor would need to recharged.

2. Humidi-stat Sensor has failed and needs to be replaced.

The recharging of the compressor cost wise, is not a big deal. Finding some who has the equipment to do it properly, may be a problem.

Replacing the sensor (if you can find one for a 7 year old dehumidifier) is more of a challenge cost wise and labor wise. In the end, it may be better to purchase a new energy efficient model that has a warranty and the option of purchasing an extended warrant. Which can be money well spent.

Hope this helped you to troubleshot and solve the problem. Please be kind enough to let me know. Thanks.

Our dehumidifier is no longer pulling moisture out of the air. I took the back off and the fan is still running. So motor or condenser? And is it worth fixing? The machine is approximately 6 years old.

Hi,

There are many reasons why a dehumidifier will not work or collect water.

Kenmore Elite 70 pint unit. Compressor appears to be frozen. Fan runs and compressor attempts to engage but immediately shuts down. Any suggestions. Unit is only about 2 years old.

Unit runs but no water collects in bucket. Unit is over a year old and has run continuously that whole time. Up till now it has performed beautifully. Is it just worn out?

Hi;
Your dehumidifier is similar to a refridgerator or air conditioner. It has a compressor and coils, and a fan. Basically, the unit has to **** in air with it's fan, and as the humid air goes across the cold coils, the humidity condenses in to water. If the coils are not getting cold, they won't condense any water, or if the fan isn't running, or the coils are dirty. If you check your unit over, see if you can tell if anything isn't working. Make sure the control knob is set at the highest setting. If the compressor lost it;s refridgerant charge, and won't get cold, it isn't probably worth fixing

Dehumidifier runs but doesn't produce water

Your dehumidifier has a circulating fan that draws the room air over the coils. If there's no air movement out the front or back of the unit, the fan motor may be burned out or stuck, or the fan blade may be broken. If so, you need to replace the fan motor or the fan blade.

Blower fan is seized Kenmore 54501 Dehumidifier?

If the blower motor is siezed up, then you need to replace the motor.
You can have new bearings put in it, but by the time you get thru it will cost you about the same as a new motor and you won't have any warranty on the old motor, you will have at least a one year warranty on the new one.

I have a Kenmore 54701 dehumidfier, less than 2 year old. the power is on, a fan seems to be running, I no longer hear a compressor turn and, and no water is collected?

The sealed system of the Kenmore 54701 dehumidifier is warranted (Parts & Labor) by Sears for five (5) years. Since the fan in your unit runs but the compressor doesn't, I suggest that you return it to Sears and request (demand) a new replacement unit under their warranty. I say "demand" because Sears will undoubtedly tell you that the problem is due to some "other" component which is not covered, and will charge you mega-bucks to repair it. Been there - - done that.

FYI, read the (very low) customer reviews of these units on Sears website and you'll see you're not alone in your experience with Sears' inferior quality units.

Above all, do NOT pay to have it repaired. That money is better spent on the purchase of a far more reliable brand of dehumidifier - - (which will most likely cost less that what you paid for the Sears unit).
