Mechanical Error on 5 Disc Onkyo Exchanger

I can't anything but a Mechanical Error on My 5 Disc Onkyo Exchager. I've gotten this reading almost since I bought it a few years ago, but now it's finally at the point of no return. I can't get it to function at all.

Hello there,

If the unit says mechanical error on the display, unfortunately, there really isn't much that you can do on your end. it is more on the hardware part of the unit and this would have to go to a repair center of Onkyo so they can service it (under warranty if you have your receipt).

How to replace swimming pool heater core

I assume you are referring to the heat exchanger. Usually when these fail the heater is replaced. Reason being that this is the biggest money part of the unit. The part alone will run pretty deep into the price of a new heater.
Then you still have the old burner tray, old gas valve, old thermostat and old internal ignition device. Each of these components run several hundred dollars apiece. It doesn't make sense to throw good money after bad.
If this exchager was leaking from a salt water pool (common these days) it would be advisable to replace the heater with a Sta-Rite MaxiTherm with the cupro-nickle exchanger. This part is coiled which allows for better water flow and less corrosion than a standard copper exchanger.
To replace the exchanger is not all that tricky if you are handy with a screwdriver, wrenches and plumbing. If you have any doubts get a pro over. Remember you are literally playing with fire.

Bryant plus 80 heat exchager is cracked, i'm looking for a replacement heat exchanger

Hate to tell you but heat exchangers are hard to match up. Unless it is relatively new then in most cases they have a warranty of 10 years. So you will have to replace furnace. You might be able to find a used furnace or go to web site and enter model number of your Bryant to get replacement.

I have A hayward heater H100IDEVERYTIME the heater kicks on it makes A clunking noise and the inlet hose shakes

Check your water flow and make sure your by-passes are set to send water threw the heater. That is to say shut off. The water in the heater is over heating and the clunking is the water turning to steam.

I have an Onkyo DV-CP702 and it keeps saying I have a mechanical error. I thought a disc was stuck, so I followed your tips and took off the top and indeed, there were 2 discs stuck. I took them out, but...

The loading mechanism is out of timing and needs to be rebuilt. This is a fairly strightforward procedure if you have the manual as there is a sequence and alignment procedure for this. No parts are required in most cases. This unit should go to a service station. If you attempt this and are not aligned correctly, it is possible to damage the optics assembly.

Onkyo six CD changer stuck closed, reads "Mechanical Error" in window...Also, new Onkyo tape deck TA-RW255 tape stuck, won't open and won't turn off.

The Onkyo CD changer has an internal mechanical problem that could be anything from a disc being jammed in the mech, to a bad belt, or a bad IC or supply voltage that goes to the servo circuit. No way to be certain without troubleshooting it. You can open it up and see if a disc is stuck, but unless you have some experience in this sort of thing it is better left to a professional, You can cause more damage than you started with by trying to fix something you don't know that much about.

The tape deck could have any number of problems as well. A bad belt or gear, a defective servo circuit, and the list could go on, but they are all things that also should be checked by a professional.
Most of the time a tape won't eject is form the tape head being engaged and not letting loose of the tape. But since it won't turn off, you have some more serious problems. That is an indication of something not communicating with the microprocessor. It could be a digital transistor, a shorted capacitor, and like before, many other things. Whatever you do, don't force the tape deck open. It will destroy the head assembly and it may even void your warranty (you did say it was new).
You need to find an authorized Onkyo service center near you. Contact Onkyo if you can not find one yourself.
This really is the best action you could take. Onkyo is a very good brand, and in most cases is worth getting repaired. If it were some type of cheap-o brand it wouldn't matter what you did to it because replacing it would always be cheaper than paying for a repair. That is not the case with your equipment.

If I can be of further help, just ask me.

Onkyo 6 disc cd player onkyo DX-C390

The unit can not read the discs. It will search through all 6 positions then quit. Try opening up the unit and cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Update this with your results.
