Hi there I've got a pair of Technics Sl-DZ 1200 CDJs and one of them is skipping on every CD I try and play. It's almost like someone has put their finger on the platter for about a second so it sounds like it's being scratched. I've tried the same CD on the other deck and it works fine. I've swapped the leads over and they all work. I've taken it to 2 separate repair shops both of which say there's nothing wrong with it and it plays perfectly ok in their shop. I even brought my own CD in and they said it played fine, but when I bring it back home and set it up the skipping on every CD I play starts. Any ideas would be appreciated; it's driving me mad!!
It could be the sensor sheet i have the same problem it skips so i took mine apart and the senser sheet has a scratch on it so the laser doesnt read the senser sheet on that one spot
heres the link to get that part

it solved my problem but its a hell of a task tryin to get it in the turntable good luck
and really pay attention to the senser sheet whe n putting it back together make sure it goes back in the senser or ur platter wont spin at all
also keep a close eye on the wires coming out the underside of the platter when putting it back in be very careful u dont pinch the wires they are very small and brittle they break easy i put a piece of tape around them so they didnt get hooked up on anything hope this helps :) good luck

Hi there
thanks for the response; do you happen to know if this is easy to repair?
Since this post I checked the deck and it's only in Turntable mode that the CD sounds like it skipping. Would it still be the motor disc spindle? The guy in the repair shop said it's the laser since i called him and told him it only does it in turntable mode (which they didn't test in this mode!!). ta
