Question about Husqvarna Lawn Tractor - 54in. Deck, 26 HP, Model# LGT2654

2 Answers

Mower keeps cutting off while trying to mow or ride with blades dis engaged. It will act like it is about to cut off a few times then it finally will. Doesn't matter the throttle position( low or high). The mower only has 12 hours on it and has plenty of gas that is NEW and has the right amount of oil. Some times it might mow for 20 min. before it cuts off and sometimes it might go 1 min.

This might be a stripped wire somewhere, maybe a wire going to a safety switch under the seat or on the cutting deck and it is earthing against the body from time to time.

Blades wont engage

Hi Mary:
The drive belt will possibly have slipped off a pulley.
With the engine OFF, look between the cutting deck and the underside of the machine. Check the position of the belt as you have a helper move the engage/dis-engage lever back and forth.

I have a White 54" cut 25 hp vtwin Kholer engine. Went start up and needed choke out to keep going like it was starving for gas, but also pto (blades) would not engage. Next evening fine, but did not mow....

If ignition switch is a suspect, next time if the problems acts up, try wiggling and slightly turning the key in the ignition. If you notice any differences, then you have bad electrical contacts in the ignition switch assembly. Hope this helps.

No spark at sparkplug checked switch when blades are dis-engaged whats next ?

Check to make sure all your safety switches are working properly. Usually these act as a ground to cut off spark to the engine. Any one of them that fails or sticks in the 'closed' (grounded) position will keep the engine from having spark. Otherwise you may have a stator issue.

Husqvarna riding mower smokes when cranked and dies when engaging blades

If it dies when engaging the blades it's not getting enough juice to do so. Test the battery and make sure you are getting at least 12 volts. If not, charge it. If so, the solonid is going bad.

Stalls When engaging the blade clutch

Check that the blade brake is disengaging. Slip belt off blade spindles and check that they spin freely. Check underside of deck for clogged grass, ropes, wire, etc.

try removing the belt and try to spin the blades by hand. are they stiff to turn? if yes try to oil the bearing assys up under there and spin em again. if that seems to work out put the belt back on and mow away again! seen this on a neighbors rider a few times

I am new at mowing lawn with craftsmen 4000 I have finally figured how to lower blade to cut but Is there a lever and where is it to engage blade to work cut???? I think I missing it

You either have a switch for the attatchment clutch switch or a handle on the dash (lever) that you push up to engage the blades. Here is a manual for your model mower. You will need Adobe Reader to view it. I HIGHLY recommend you read most of it to help you understand your machine. How to work the controls and the operation of them is on page 13 and other pages. Here is your manual. Please read:

Vibrations when the cutting head is lowered . Sounds like one of the blades is hitting the cover. Especially noticeable below a setting of 5. Three cutting blades. There is no noticeable loss of cutting...

Sounds like a bent blade to me. Can you determine where or which side the noise is coming from? For safety, I would replace all the blades. I once ran over my son's baseball while mowing and bent the housing and that caused the blade to hit the side of the deck. I simply bent the housing back with a few hits of a hammer and back to mowing I went.
