Seems windows lost your drivers or another software package broke the drivers. Have you tried to re-install the drivers?

I bought two box speakers for my truck but I am wanting to test them to c how they sound

Hi Tamara,
What is the problem in testing the speakers? Connect them to any music system and test them. Your truck must be having some kind of music system fitted in,why not test them there.

NO MUSIC OR SOUND WILL PLAY FROM SPEAKERS

Did you check the volume on your computer? Try using a headphone too instead of the speaker.. If nothing works, you might want to check if drivers for your audio devices are installed.. visit driver guide or driverhq.com for help

Hi. Today I bought a 3 foot audio y-cable and an RCA (Phono) Female to RCA (Phoneo) Female cable so that I could hook up these two speakers that I have that belong to a predisian sound system (boom box)...

All you need to do is get a USB based sound adapter 16/32BIT MINIMUM to plug your speakers straight into your laptop with better sound. Many laptops will have limited sound OUTPUT which places large limitations on pushing sound through your nice speakers. You already know the problem is not the speakers or new cables, therefore you know that problem has been isolated to your laptop. You may also check the volume settings in the laptop to ensure your running the highest possible BIT or volume enhacement software. Let me know if this does the trick for you.

Crackling sound

The crackling could be due to a faulty wire or jack connection. If you have any other sound device (e.g. headphones), try connecting that one instead of the Z4 and see whether the crackling disappears (in which case it's the Z4) or not (in which case it's the jack or the computer). Could arguably be an EM or electrical interference, but you'd need a laptop running on batteries to check the second, and trying orienting differently the speakers to try checking the first.

The music slowing down means something's wrong in the computer: the Z4 are purely passive, they can't do anything to the music tempo. Try running an antivirus check or try Task Manager (or Process Explorer) and see whether anything's eating more CPU than it should.

My speakers wont work suddenly unless I am using my headphones

Make sure in the volume mixer that it is using the right sound device. You most likely have it set to the wrong device output. When you plugged in the headphones in kinda automatically switches, but to use the speakers again you have to do it manually. Just hook up a cheap av receiver to your computer and use this headphone input instead. a 100$ 5.1 av receiver beats any pc speaker system.
