Thread locking compound works wonders on self-loosening bolts and screws. Get this at an auto parts supply.

How do you remove the fuel tank on husqvarna 55 rancher

The fuel tank is an integral part of the chassis on the 55 rancher. To remove the fuel tank the saw must be disassembled to a large degree. To see the process, go to www.husqvarna.com/us and download an IPL. This will show what needs to be removed.

Huskavarna 455 rancher with pplug keeps popping out

This is the de compression button, it should be pushed in every time you start the saw, it makes it easier for you to start the saw and reduces the stress and wear on the starter components, it will automatically pop out when the saw starts.

I can not find a bar to fit the rancher 55. This

The 50/51 and 55 always had the same bar mount, the bar was part no. 508912164 for 15" 508912172 for 18" and 508912180 for the 20", the oil is not fed through the bar adjuster hole.

I have a Rancher 55 18" with a new chain. Started

First thing you need to check is the cylinder.Take the spark plug ouy.use a flashlight and look down the hole towards the muffler side.If its scratched up afraid the motor is shot and will need to be rebuilt. If its not scratched up let me know on here. Then I will give you more things to check.

My chainsaw will not quit vibrating while im cutting wood?

This could be a number of issues, if it has an anti vibration system is this in good shape ( with the saw stopped, hold the rear handle, now try to move the engine unit seperate to the rear handle, does it readily touch/ rattle against the fuel tank , if so the anti vibration rubbers/springs are worn or broken and will require replacment, the engine unit should not readily move independant to the top/rear handle if this happens you will get all the vibration from the engine)
Cutting chain condition can also increase vibration, blunt/incorrectly sharpened chains will cause over loading due to operator pushing the saw too hard and creating contact of the engine unit to the handle system ( replace the cutting chain ), saw running rich due to blocked air filter ( clean the filter )

New chain saw. starts, but doens't idle. It stops running frequently. should it idle? If I keep giving it gas when not sawing I can keep it alive some of the time.

Make sure that when is idle the upper handle is in the right position.in most of them the upper handle need to be at the front position to stay idle unless you want to start cutting, then the handle need to be on the back position to start cut.
Also check for clogged fuel components and a new spark plug.

Husqvarna ranger 55 chainsaw starts but quits

I too have a rancher 55 and had what sounds like the same problem this week. It would start fine but run for only a few seconds at a time. I took it all apart today and found the problem - a cracked fuel line. In the places where I could see the hose it looked fine, but it wasn't until I removed the fuel tank that I found the crack...right where it exits the tank and then goes thru the housing above it. You don't need to remove the tank to replace the hose but it is easier that way. You do have to push it thru a grommet at the top of the tank. I read some other posts about checking the tank vent to see that it's not plugged up. Mine was ok so I knew it had to be something else. The vent is in a hole about the size of a pencil and is recessed about an inch into the tank on the upper right side. Its partially covered by a plastic cap that's part of the vibration damper, which can be removed to gain access to the vent. The vent tube can then be pushed out from inside the tank with the use of long needle nose pliers, but be gentle. I just loosened it then pushed it out with a finger. I put it all back together with a new hose and its running like new again!

Poulan Chain Saw (Model 2775) Handle keeps coming loose.

If it keeps coming loose, you could try some thread-locking solution on the screw to keep it in place. The spring is there as an anti-vibration measure (well a vibration reducer) so the saw is more comfortable to use and so it doesn't cause excessive fatigue through constant, high vibration transmitted through to the handle. You could of course remove the spring if you wanted to but the saw is likely to be pretty uncomfortable to use. Without seeing the saw in person however, there must be some reason the screw keeps loosening... See if you can find that issue and replace the affected part, or try some threadlocker in the meantime.
