Hi, you`ve got a bad convergence circuit, involves un-soldering either 2 or 3 large IC`s (you didn`t post a model number) possibly 2-3 burnt resistors and possibly a chemical fuse. A lot of times it`s just the 2 or 3 IC`s, definitely worth fixing (I personally own a 53" Hitachi) If you try this yourself be sure you get original IC`s for the set, theres a lot of bogus chinese IC`s on the internet, acme-sales.net in Orlando Fl. is where I get mine, gl, video-tek

Nothing you can do about that...get used to it or change the TV.
It's a defect in the panel that can't be reliably fixed.

I have blue arched lines and blue screen

HI:
Your problem is the blue CRT or picture has gone bad, you will need to have the picture replaced, there are three tubes in this model rear projection television. Red, Green, and Blue. Replaceing the blue tube is the only option for normal operation to resume. It may be hard to find the tube, but you can try contacting this website for the part www.vdc.com, they manufacture and usually have stocks of sony picture tubes and rebuilt ones as well. The company's name is Video Display Corporation...

My tv too had a blue screen problem. Then it started to shut down after staying on for less than a minute. I thought that I would with a huge repair bill but I followed the directions at this link: http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html and now my tv works perfectly.

Red arching lines

is this that you are adjusting called convergence? If so then if it's really bad you can try to reset convergence, if not then the red needs to be aligned up with green first then blue on green. Can you provide a picture of what it looks like?

sounds like bad CRT, some of these sonys have had defective CRT issues, usually all will come and go sooner or later (all 3 bad), you can pull the speaker grill off(either 2 1/4" screws on bottom or 6 1/4" on back sides) and pull off the Crt box cover (2'X3' piece) and lightly tap the CRT's with tv on, if they flare or get colored streaks in pix they are bad, CALL SONY 800 # and complain, also could adjust G2 (Screen control for color) for short patch. Will need new crts.

One of the convergence output IC's has stopped working and needs to be replaced. If the IC shorts out then it will draw too much current and possibly blow a fuse, and the set will shut down to protect itself. The IC should be replaced and the set realigned by someone with experience in convergence circuits.

My Hitachi 57F710E rear projection tv won't turn on after power failure. I have a Hitachi 57F710E rear projection tv that won't turn on. We recently had a power failure, the electric went off and on, off and on, and then off and stayed off. This happened in quick succession. After the power was restored the tv wouldn't turn on. I took the back off of the tv and checked to see if there were any fuses that might have blown. There was 4 fuses, 3 on the power supply board and one on another larger board that I believe says "deflector" on it. All the fuses were fine. We did the unplug and plug in thing like the book suggested and it didn't work, we even left it unplugged for 72 hours and plugged it back in, it didn't work. So, we decided to just move it out to the garage to get it out of the way. After we moved it out there I decided I would take the back off and take one more look at it. after I took the back off I plugged it in and I heard a slight click, it only clicked once. I also noticed that there was a small green LED light on the deflector board that was lit up, so I pushed the power button on the front of the tv and I heard the tv come on. I went ahead and hooked a dvd player up and lo and behold the tv was working fine. At that point I decided to go ahead and clean all of the optics. I then brought it back into the house and hooked all the STB's back up and plugged it in. The tv wouldn't turn on. It no longer makes that small click noise when I plug it in and the little LED light on the deflector board no longer lights up. Could someone give me an idea of what could be wrong. Thanks
