It is possible that the battery is not contacting the metal clips inside. See if the can be adjusted out. More likely the detector is not recognizing the voltage of the new battery. You can try removing the detector from the ac power install the battery and reconnecting it to the ac. It should correct the issue.

They don't last forever. If they are more than 7 years old, replace them.

Hi,

Can you pleas ensure that you have cleaned the unit as well. If it is not broken, that would be the probable cause. You can ask your local fire dept. to assist. They do that for free :-)

Why the back (can't see inside) of the wire keep beeping after taking off the smoke detector? How to stop it?

You need to replace it. It will not silence as it detects Faulty sensor. Or you can turn off the breaker that controls that circuit and remove the base from the mount and replace both of the with 2 new ones with the same date code on package. My home and life far outweigh the few dollars that the detectors cost

Ok have a single wired smoke alarm on celing with 9v battery we have changed battery and pushed the test button but it keeps beeping ( live in Sydney)

If you have changed the battery in your chirping smoke detector and it still chirps, you might think your detector is bad. ... With the battery removed, press and hold the test button for 15-20 seconds. Replace the new battery in the detector and plug in the power supply. Restore power to the circuit breaker.

How do I stop the beeping of smoke detector after battery has been replaced?

How old is it? It may be telling you that it's no longer reliable and must be replaced.

My 521NCSXT smoke sector beeps periodically. What is required to repair?

When a smoke detector beeps periodically it is telling you that it needs a new battery. They require the newest 'alkaline' 9 volt battery that you can get. If it is not alkaline you will get the beeps. once the battery is replaced do a hard reset. (pressing the button for 10 or more seconds)

My Kidde carbon monoxide alarm keeps beeping every 30 seconds and we have put new batteries in it but it keeps beeping

Detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-7 years. So sounds like you need new one (Its not worth to buy just a sensor). Take a look on amazon Amazon com smoke alarm detector (watch out on reviews). I hope this was helpful. cheers

Well, I replaced the batteries because the smoke detector was beeping, and it's still beeping even after the batteries were replaced.

In addition to changing the batteries, make sure they are turned the correct way to get proper polarity. Also, clean the unit using canned compressed air with the straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with). The sensor may be clogged with dust and dirt. Keep the canned compressed air as upright as possible when blowing out the detector.

How to fix detector

You don't mention how old the detector is. If it is more than 5 years old the detector may be beeping to indicate the end of its service life. A smoke detector can last much longer but carbon monoxide detectors have a limited life span. If putting in new batteries doesn't fix the problem then most likely you will need to replace it.

Home security alarm keeps beeping

Most wired-in smoke detectors work off of two sources of power, electric and battery. If the beeping occurs every 30 seconds or so it most likely means you need to replace the battery in the detector. On the other hand if by beeping you mean the alarm is going off, I would first try cleaning the unit with your vacuum. If that doesn't solve the problem then the next step would be to replace the unit. Hope this helps.

My alarm and smoke detector keeps beeping a single beep every few minutes

Ours keeps chirping even after we replaced the battery. I'm not sure how to fix it.

We are going to try and clean it but if it keeps doing it after that then I guess it means it needs to be replaced, right?
