Question about Sunbeam 200 Watts 2484 Hand Mixer

1 Answer

Is there a manual on how to put the insides back in place? I had to open it up to clean it. There were pieces that came out and I'm not sure where to place them. Thanks

The pin that connects my kitchen aide mixer to the base. I am unable to put it back in. Something seems to be blocking y. The hole looks like it is aligned

The hinge pin is normally locked in place by a screw. If that screw is not loosened enough the pin will not be easy to put back in place.

Put the mixer on its side and look through the base. You should see the screw, Loosen it and the hinge pin can be slid into place (make sure the pin's hole in the case and the one in the head line up). Once the hinge pin is in place, tighten the screw to secure the pin.

Can not get second gear in my Hobart mixer

Dear anonymous
When you say you can't get 2nd gear in I assume you took out to replace grease and now you are having issues with putting it all back together. With that in mind let me tell you what you may have done. Looking at the diagram of gears and shafts side by side (found on Internet under a200 manual) you need to find the older model a200 manual. Inside the shifting yoke is a divers key and that has to fit inside the yoke then carefully put back on the shaft while depressing that inner shaft spring I think you have left this out or out of place this keeping it from going back together and your getting 2nd gear on

The drip ring and a seal ring dropped into the batter how are they attached on a Kitchen aid MOdel k5-a

The drip ring is held in place by friction. Simply put in place and tap it around with a small hammer (use a piece of wood between the ring)- and hammer).

I don't know what you mean by a "seal ring." The only piece I can thong of is a rubber o-ring around the agitator shaft (where you attach the beater). If it somehow broke and worked loose you will have to disassemble the machine to either replace the shaft assembly or to fit a new o-ring. The K5=-A service manual is available on line with a bit of searching.

Question: How do you put the string and spring wire clip back into the planetary assembly so that it won't interfere with the gears by coming loose?

I have repaired/reconditioned a number of K5-A mixers and have never encountered the parts you have described. They are not in the Service Manual. Try reassembling without those pieces.

KitchenAid mixer ring falls off

The trim ring news to be ta]ed in place with a plastic-face mallet. This type of mallet does not (if used properly) Mar the surface it striks.

Hold the trim ring in place while tapping it in place. It often takes patience to get it right.

The ring is properly in place when there is no place where you can insert a fingernail between it and the mixer body all around the ring.

Planetary ring

ok im going to take a shot at this its been a while since ive been in a school kitchen
with the planetary ring its supposed to be tapped in make a jig by getting a 2x6 board and 2 2x4s they dont have to be long screw the boards together with the 2 2x4 standing 4 inch up across from each other about the size of the blender head
the wood is to support mixer while on its head and to keep from teetering around
put down down a piece of foam
put the mixer on its head upside down
now you have to find an old plastic sturdy made cup the size of the ring its gotta be able to take a beating (the cup)
but not a hard beating this will help in seating the panetary ring
now get another piece of foam
glue to top of cup let dry then trim around the cup evenly out side and on the inside leave a little foam over the inside edge
place ring on planetary drive where it goes put cup over ring make sure the cup matches size of ring
now get a wood rubber or small pin hammer and tap lightly on the cup till the ring sits itself back into position this is the safest way to place the ring
use a little appliance greese on inside ring lightly to help ease into place

now if any part of the ring is bent i dont recommend placing of old ring i would suggest buying a new ring for mixer

There are 2 set screws.Make sure their both out,if for some reason there is only 1 set screw these are your options.Heat the shaft and remaining pin with a mapp torch (you can buy them at home depot, lowes for $40 bucks),heat it up really good then get a punch and try to knock out the pin, option 2---if you cant get the pin out then youll have to replace the shaft and if thats the case you should also clean out the planetary and replace the bearings and seals. If the hole in the shaft is oblongated or worn you should probably replace the shaft because the dough hook will rock the pin back and forth breaking the pin. Also look inside the hook and make sure thatI its not worn out where the pin sets.IF you see thee hook or shaft pinhole worn you will break the pin again if you are able to replace the pin.I work for hobart and service mixers regulary,if you need part numbers or advise let me know.

Mixer doesn't run

you can take it apart by removing the pin which is in the shaft that does NOT hold the attachments....... i got mine out with a nail set and a gentle tap or two with a hammer. after you remove that pin the portion that holds the attachments will slide down revealing three more screws and some gearing. if you remove those three screws....... the top will come apart (assuming you have removed the other four screws which are visible when the unit is assembled) and you will see the circuit board.

Doesn't work

I just fixed mine and it sounds like some of you may have the same problem. Problem was...Lights on top come on but when you push the start button, nothing happens. The problem was the upright position kill switch. First, to get the cover off... unplug the unit. Then, right next to where you attach your beater in the center of the round plate is an octagonal piece with a pin pushed through to hold the round steel plate with the beater holder. Punch the pin out and the beater holder will come off. Now you have access to two more hex (or star) screws like the two you can see under the arm of the unit. Remove these 4 screws (the two that are under the plate and the two you could already see) and the top cover will come off. Be sure not to yank any wires too hard as it is all electronic in there. Once the cover is off, have the mixer facing with the plug end to the right and the beater end to the left. Now, looking at the insides, on the far right and closest to you, you will see a small switch which should get pressed when the unit is in the down position. It should catch on a small piece of metal that is held in place by a small philips screw. On my unit, this metal piece which should have been in place to trip the switch when the unit was down had broken off. I took a very small piece of metal about 1cm long, drilled a hole in one end so the screw would hold it in place and then bent it 90 degrees, so when the unit was in the down position, this metal piece would trip the kill switch for the motor. Anything to trip the kill switch would work. If you can't figure out what to use to trip the kill switch, you could just wrap a piece of tape or something around the switch so it is always activated, but this would potentially be unsafe as the beaters would then run in the upright position. Fixed mine in about 15 Hope some of you can do the same.
