Double tap the left upper corner of the mouse pad. That should do it.

SOURCE: touch pad is disabled and cannot enable it

There will be a function button on the keyboard to turn it on and off, look at all the f1 f2 etc keys and look for a mousepad symbol and press fn + that button.

SOURCE: small red light that disables mouse pad

I think you have the Touch Pad disabled. You can toggle the touch pad between enable and disable by a couple of ways depending on the manufacturer. On some at the very top of the touchpad there might be a button in the middle that you can press that toggles the touchpad. On others it might be a sequence of key strokes. For example you might have to Press and Hold the ALT or FN key then hit the corresponding key at the top of the keyboard that toggles it. Most times the correct key to hit will have the icon of a finger pointing at a square area that represents the touchpad.

I found this on your particular model on HPs site. Apparently there is a button or area on the touchpad that is in the upper left hand corner of the touch pad that toggles it on or off.

(1) TouchPad light if Amber: The TouchPad is off.
otherwise The TouchPad is on.
(2) TouchPad on/off button Turns the TouchPad on and off. Quickly double-tap the
TouchPad on/off button to turn the TouchPad on and off.

Here is a link to the document. When it opens up click the Maintenance and Service Guide. It will show you a picture of the Touchpad layout.

Probook 4530s headphone not working

I had this problem with probook 4540s. I installed the drivers from HP site, but the problem didn't solve. Then I found that unchecking Playback devices > Properties (Speakers) > Advanced > Enable audio enhancements, did solve the problem.

How do I disable the touchpad on my hp probook 4530s?

03-27-2013 FINALLY A SOLUTION THAT WORKS TO DISABLE HP 4530S touch pad:
Clickity click on Control Panel/System/Device Manager/Mice/Synaptics PS2/Driver/Update Driver/Search Internet for latest driver.
It should find and update with driver dated 01/10/2013 which is driver version 16.3.9.0
HOORAY! Double click on the upper left hand corner of the mouse pad, the light comes On indicating that the mouse pad is OFF - and it works just like HP said it would two years ago. Knowing HP, who knows for how long it will work.
This works on Windows 7 - on other systems your milage may vary.

How can deactivate the pad?i dont want to click with a double touch...thanks

To turn the TouchPad on/off, quickly double-tap the TouchPad off indicator (the yellow LED) at the left top corner. If the touchpad is disabled it is indicated by a yellow LED on upper left corner of the touchpad and when the TouchPad is active, the light is off.
This would disable the touchpad completely. Also, if you wish to disable just the double-click through double-tap, you can do this by going to the mouse/touchpad options from the control panel.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

My touchpad has locked on my ProBook 4720s. How do i unlock it. the orange light stays on on the top left corner of pad.

Hi there,
Simply tap twice on the orange light and your pad will be working again, this is basically a lock like the HP had in earlier which was made enable/disable by Fn+F7 key, As a new advancement its a lock and also indicator, when you see orange light it means that touchpad is locked, for unlocking simply tap twice on the orange light on touchpad, and it will start working again
