Electric Kitchen aid, model kerc607...broil elements

We relaced a broken bake element in our electric oven yesterday and now the broil element is not heating up properly. In the bake mode, the out broil element should come on to help preheat the oven and it doesn't come on at all in bake or broil mode, but the inner broil element does heat when on broil. Anyone have this problem or have any ideas?? Thanks D

My Kitchen Aid oven will not preheat or keep to the desired temp in steam mode or also regular bake mode, BUT will preheat and keep desired temp in "auto steam" mode. Example: in regular steam mode - my selected temp is 400, but it can't get above 325-340 no matter what I dial it up too. Owners manual says the oven max temp on steam mode is 450 but it does not even get close unless in autosteam mode. Top element comes on just fine in "autosteam" and hits the mark. Any other mode will not.

What is the complete model # from the sticker on the range? I will need that so I can look into this for you. I will say that I have seen, in several cases, where the oven control gets a surge and fries after an element has broken.

if you put your volt meter leads across the bake element you should be getting 240 volts when its in the bake cycle.

Its sounds like the control board is bad.i suggest you call a local repairman...

The top burners work fine and the oven does not appear to have any problems but the heat elements (bake & broil) suddenly quit working.

Usually a safety thermostat, but it can also be wiring, a control board, or a dlb relay. Call Kitchen Aid warrantee service on this, as some of the electonics have a longer warrantee on them. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists.

Top element wont heat wen oven is on bake

The top element normally operates only when you turn the temperature control all the up to the broil setting as it is the broiling element. If it doesn't work at the broil setting, suspect a bad brioler element or a faulty temperature control.

Maytag oven not getting hot enough

When you put the oven into bake it preheats with the bake and broil element both.  The broil element is most likely your only heat source if it took that long to cook the pie.  Need to verify that the bake element is coming on.  If it isn't then the problem is either in the control or the element itself.  Give me the model # off the sticker on the oven and I can help you do the check out.  In the mean time see if the bake element is getting hot.

Oven slow to heat

In alot of ovens preheat will cause the both the broil and bake element to come on. You are most likely getting heat from the broil element. This means either the bake element is bad or the relay on the oven control is bad. If the element shows resistance with an ohm meter then replace the oven control board.
