How do you refit the lift filter release catch spring which has been dislodged?
When cleaning the filter and reassembling as I tried to close the catch spring came away and I wanted to know where this spring is located? Then I can put it back

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty replacing your DC28's clear bin and cyclone. They should lift away from the machine when you push the red release catch, and should reattach in the same way without any issues.
From what you've described it sounds as if something is out of place. You may want to remove and replace the washable HEPA post-filter as shown in the video below - if the clear post-filter cover isn't fitted correctly this could prevent the bin from sitting correctly on the vacuum. Make sure all the black rubber seals are in position, and that the bin base is closed all the way around. It's also a good idea to check the red release catch for any damage.

Lay vacuum on table or other surface on it's front.
Remove the 4-5 screws on the base plate.
There may be a rectangular hole on each side of the wheels. If so, insert a standard screwdriver and rotate gently to release latches.
Carefully hold the halves together and turn vacuum onto it's back.
Lifting from the back, remove the power nozzle cover.
If replacing the belt or brush, remove the screws located at each end of the brush. Lift brush out and remove belt.
You can no replace the belt, brush, or both. I also recommend giving the insides a good cleaning before reassembling. Make sure when you reassemble, insert the lip of the cover into the slot, then close the back. Some gentle manipulating may be necessary.
The filter goes under the tool caddy. Press the latch just behid the bag door. Prees the two tabs toward each other to release the catch of the tool holder and lift out. Remove filter and replace.
Slip back of tool caddy in first, then press front down to latch it. Close the top and you're done.
You cann find a manual using the following link. It's the next to last one under Older Models.
There are two keys holding the body together, underneath the bumpers on the side of the vac. With the bag door open these keys when gripped with pliers will slide forward to release the body panels.
Before opening the vac, gently push the cord back inside the housing. 2 possibilities: If the spool rotates and allows the cord to push in , the body must be disassembled, and the cord winder removed and the spring reloaded. This is tricky work. you will need to wind the entire cord onto the spool, then load 3.5 rotations onto the coil spring for tensioning, then reassemble. It's a bit like working on a land mine of you're new at it. Wear safety glasses.
BUT if the spool is locked from the outside and the cord wont push in or pull out, a fine , long blade screwdriver can be inserted diagonal to the body through the cord slot and with luck you can lift a cog of the spool releasing tension and the rewind will work. try that first , but be gentle . You must release the cord spool allowing a a dog ear catch cog to release inside by gently lifting upwards. Post back to say how you made out, Or look for an AERUS Electrolux service shop.
USUALY REMOVING THE 3 TOP SCREWS COMPLETLY YOU CAN NORMALY LIFT OFF THE TOP WITH EASE.
IF YOU CAN DO THIS REMOVE THE ROD TRIGGER ASEMBLY FROM THE TOP AND THEN PLACE THE BARE ROD BACK INTO THE BASE WITHOUT THE TOP AND ALIGN THE ROD TO THE TRAP DOOR LATCH AND GENTLY PUSH DOWN WITH SOME PRESSURE AND WITH A BIT OF LUCK SHOULD RELEASE BOTTOM FLAP IF SUCCESFUL WASH BOTTOM LATCH ASSEMBLY WITH HOT WARE AND REMOVE DUST & DEBRIS AND REASSEMBLE,
Could not find a picture of this installed, I have replaced this spring and it is hard to do. You have to put the straight prong of the spring unto the valve arm, you will see a spot for it to be at, then wind the other end of the spring around until it goes into a slot, then get it all together on the agi housing before it comes apart. Hope this makes sense.
The top cover covering the light, push in at the sides to release the tabs holding it, then there will be 2 screws, remove them, then with a screw driver, on each side you will see a slot, put the screw driver in ther and pry up to release the catches. Then you can get to the brush roll and belt.
