Tray washing the condenser side (out side ) whit a water hose and changing your home air filter
especially your condenser "(the part than looks like a radiator)"
if is real dirty it can't bread and cool down
the refrigerant causing a the refrigerant pressure to rice to unsafe levels and a safety pressure switch kill the compressor.
all other fans will work.
do not use a hi power pressure washer because it would bend the tiny aluminum strips and cause you more troubles.
if this don't work you are going to have to call a pro to take care of it.

AC blows warm air whil idle or at first start

U could be run on eco a/c where the engine is using the power until it has extra to spare. Warm at start could be simlarly that there is now cold air yet and has to "make" cold air to distribute when ready. See if u can find a setting for reg use. cheers, ps eco saves dollars/euros.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly,
This certainly sounds like a low system coolant level issue. Have someone check the system pressures. Low side should usually be 65 to 70 unit running. High side will vary with outside temps any where from 135 - 170. If you do not have good low side pressures it will affect the high side pressures also. This is really the only way your going to sort this one out.

Look around the evaporator and the condenser for any signs of OIL or dark spots caused by oil. That is usually an indication of a system coolant leak.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

You may have a frozen heater core.

Drain the cooling system and remove the lines that run from the engine to the vehicle's metal firewall, attempt to blow compressed air through the lines. DO NOT allow the core to pressurize more than 14-20 PSI, as damage can occur.

If the core is frozen, it can be thawed by warming the vehicle's interior to room temperature and maintaining it, although this method will take several hours. You can periodically test the heater core for flow by either introducing water flow or using compressed air. You can also just blow in the line, but please don't let your mouth make contact with the coolant line. Use something between your mouth and the line, so you don't ingest coolant.

My girlfriends 2003 beetle,s ac does not blow cold air. This happened after an issue with low coolant. Is there any connection here, or is there other potential causes?

does it blow cold ac when the car is started after sittin overnight? if it does and gradually gets warmer as the car warms up, then you may have an air bubble in your cooling system caused by the low coolant level. if it blows warm anytime, then your ac system may need to be inspected or recharged.
