When i turned on the tv, i heard a crackle sound and the picture went out. i can hear everything but cant see nothing! zenith told me that this tv has a 66,000 hour viewing lifespan and the problem might be the "bulb". Please help, what should i do and how much is it going to cost me?
As a former television technician for a well known electronics store. This problem can be one of many problems. It can be a short of the main board, the y or x boards (either sus or buffer). But the most likely issue, since you still have sound, is that the panel went bad.

Something short circuit with its circuit board. you must have through knowledge in electronics, and work experience to do repair work to this Plasma TV. As you know, plasma TVs are the latest technology devices, and a mere knowledge in electronics will not help. It will be best to get this set repaired by any experienced service technician or by the authorized service center for Zenith at your town. [Short circuit protection circuit energized, and latched the relay, not to supply voltage to damaged circuit board is the problem] The click sound you heard was the latch sound of the protection relay.
I'm sure you have figured this one out. TV itself is causing the problems.
The circuit board that produces the audio signal seems to be the problem.
Before you call the repairman, go to the web site Shopjimmy.com just to get an idea of what the parts will cost. That way he doesn't rip you off.
I hope I answered your question correctly. Please rate me. :)
common problems with these, usually customers here a loud pop. then the screen goes blank. I would try...
Some of these have a 4 pin test on the control board that you can jump with solder to get test pattern. If you get it to do that then these boards maybe good and would replace the control board. if nothing happens, then
the upper & lower drive also the Ysus and Zsus boards all at the same time.
last could be a defective panel.
hope this helps. p/n are on all the boards.
That crackling noise has nothing to do with the television and everything to do with your antenna. It is merely signal breakdown, when you get signal interference with analogue tv you get snow, with digital you get little squares on the screen and/or sound breaking and cutting in and out, get a licensed antenna repairer to come out check your signal strength as you may need a booster or your antenna could just be a few degrees off....
