Is it OK for ice thickener sensor touch water on ice maker

Yes, it has to touch the water. As the ice builds up the thickness sensor moves up and turns of the refrigeration and turns the heater on.

    HI,

The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

    Icemaker

Here is a solution I found on a different site:

Try this..using some hot water and a squirt bottle with a tube about a foot to a foot and half long (about 1/8 to 1/4 inch diameter) to melt the ice (if present) and return it to working order most of the time. There is a black tube to the right of the ice maker on the roof of the freezer, if you squirt the hot water there, it should fix it, if there was an ice blockage..This way you donot have to defrost the fridge :) Here is a pic:
    moz-screenshot.jpg7dd13a0.jpg

It would be better if you take off the ice maker and the ice maker cover. The ice maker cover comes off by lifting it up and pushing it to the right, the pegs come out of the holes then. The ice maker is removed by one bolt at the bottom of the ice maker. Here's a pic to help you locate it:
    53dc598.jpg

Once the ice maker is moved out of the way, you can easily feed the tube into the black hose and turn the bottle upside down to push the warm water into the hose. It should then melt any ice and it should all come draining out. Keep a dish underneath the hose to catch the water and (hopefully) the ice that was blocking the hose.

Re-assemble and wait a few hours to see if your making ice again.

Also note if you see a flashing red light just inside the freezer door where the button is to turn on and off the ice maker. A flashing light means problems with the sensing PCB. Look behind the kick panel under the refrigerator door for the service info sheet. It will give diagnostic info for these boards.

Also, a solid red light means that the door is open and the ice maker will not make ice. If you hit the big white switch to the left of the door (hinges area), the light switches to solid red. This tells the ice maker to start making ice. The little holes under the red light are sensors that tell the ice maker when it's full. Make sure that these are not blocked in any way, and are clear, or it will give wrong info to the control panel saying that the ice maker is full..

    Hope that helps!

    GE Ice Maker freezing

Not sure exactly what you mean by the ice maker freezing, ice makers are suppose to freeze. But if you are referring to the ice maker not being able to harvest the ice since it is frozen in there to tight, then the heater that is on the bottom of the ice maker has failed and you will need to replace the ice maker.
Here is a link to the new ice maker.

Do i need to change the filter in order to get the ice maker to work? the water still come out but not into the ice maker. please help!

no you donot need to change the filter first. all of the water goes through the filter first. you either have a bad water valve for the ice maker. a bad ice maker. or bad optics that sense the ice bin on the door is full. can you move the ejector blades on the ice maker? that will tell you if the ice maker gear is broken.

    Ice maker not making ice

yes, there is 2 lines, one for the water and the other for the ice. you can take the back lower panel behind the frige and take a look at the water line coming from the house where it connects to the frige, you can disconet the line that goes to the freezer, and put the line inside of a container of about 1 litter, and waite for about 30 minutes it at to have some water inside just enough to fill the ice maker. if you donot get any water, replace that valve.
