It is telling itself that it has a problem. When turned on a camera goes through a series of test, if one fails it shuts off. You will have to have the problem diagnosed or as is most often the case today is repairs are more than the camera used value.
Try cleaning the contacts from the battery and the battery compartmentof the camera. I had the same problem, used a cotton swab to clean and this fixed it, it seems to bea common problem.
