I just bought an Acer Aspire laptop 5720. I will be typing along and suddenly the cursor backs up and starts somewhere back in the sentence I already typed. It is so annoying. Is there a setting for this not to happen. Help!

Re: Acer Aspire keyboard
I puzzled over this for months, and then discovered it was because my thumb, normally attached to a mouse, was touching the board. Easy smeazy. Either wait until your habits can change, and not touch the touchpat with your thumb, or get a plug-in mouse.

Humming is usually caused by a bad capacitor on the power supply board. Look at the caps on the board, any that are puffed up, burned or leaking (brown at the base) need replacing. Make sure you get the EXACT same capacitors and pay attention to the orientation so you get them back in properly, if you don't you will fry them soon as you apply power to the board.
This is due to a BIOS error,Restart your computer. As it is powering up, you will see text along the
bottom screen saying "Press Delete to enter BIOS." Depending on your
operating system, it may ask you to press one of your function keys,
such as F3 or F4. Either way, press the required key as the computer is
booting.Do not make any other changes to your BIOS unless you are confident you
know what you are doing because it could damage your laptop.

Also, you will want to make sure your ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3200 graphics drivers are up to date:
Start > Right-click 'Computer' > Properties > 'Device Manager' (under Tasks, top left) > 'Sound, video and game controllers' There will be two Audio devices there, right click on both, one at a time, and click "Update Driver Software". Restart your PC and try playing music/watching videos.
hi, i recommend just using the headphone out, and it probably will not hurt the notebook, as it is not feeding back into the notebooks sound device. you may wish to do as i did, and get a creative labs external sound card. much improvement over the on-board high def sound built into my acer notebook.with all the connections you would want! as for speakers there are alot of models to pick from.i usually go with creative, but this time i went logitech- thx, dts, ect. and i am very happy. i hope this helps you make a decision on what do. good luck!glen
Try to competelly shut down your laptop by pressing the On/Off button for approximatelly 5 seconds...
Once is shutted down, try to start it again. If you are unable to start up your notebook, then try pressing F8 after the initial screen is displayed. Not wait too long because otherwise it will try to start Windows again. The F8 key must be pressed BEFORE windows starts.... Then, you will see several options...Choose the one that says "Safe Mode". By doing this you will be able to access your notebook and reinstall Windows again. Only do this if you were unable to start windows in standard mode.
