through my desktop, however when I turn the wireless mode on my laptop of and plug inthe LAN connection it works fine.

Sounds like you have a static IP address on your PC which is preventing you from connecting to the router. This normally happens when you change the router for the origional that was provided by the ISP. Easy to fix. Just set your IP address back to dyamic & you will contect over LAN just fine. If you want to reconfigure your static I.P then I would be glad to help but that is another question.

Just revert to dyanamic IP address & all will be well.
