Please make sure of the Model #
Try transfering it using the A/V cables and capture it using any recording Software. (The Computer must have A/V input ports. i.e. A/V Capture card)
If you transfer it by USB, date and time won't be displayed.

I have a dcr-sr200 and have 7 hrs worth of video to burn that took about five hours. But when I check it the time date stamp did not appear. I can seem to figure it out . please help

I understand that you have burned the videos to a disc using Computer and the burned videos does not have the date and time on it. In order to get date and time on videos taken using the Hard Disk Camcorder, the video should transfer using A/V interface with the DATA CODE option on the Camcorder enabled.

Once you enable DATA CODE, the date and time will be shown when playing videos in the Camcorder. You can view when you connect the Camcorder directly to a TV. While using the A/V interface with Computer to capture videos using an Analog Video Capture Software like Windows Movie Maker, you will get the videos in Computer with date and time displayed. You can burn those videos using a burning software.

If you're using stand alone DVD Recorder, you can enable the DATA CODE and use the A/V interface to connect the Camcorder to the DVD Recorder to get the date and time on videos.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know for clarifications. You can also give more information about the recording method you're using to give more specific instructions.

We are making a sports highlight video. The video came off a Sony Handycam. We viewed the tape using the handycam to reference sports plays to edit using the time/date data in the lower left of the...

I use this information in photography, its caled EXIF Data, and basicaly is the internal information stamp in the pic (date, camera type, focus used, expsure range, etc, etc).

EXIF data on each movie clip recorded is stored in the accompanying .THM file which is a small JPEG thumbnail file of the first frame of the movie.

Force open the *.thm file with photoshop (or simply make a backup copy and change the extension to *.jpg) and read the EXIF via Ctrl+Alt+Shift+I.

I know that the video files also keep this information and could be vewer and modificated; try to check this software and apply it: topshareware.com/sony-camera-exif/downloads

Additional details could find in this site: www.exif.org

Just one last personal recommendation: ALLWAYS, ALLWAYS keep some backup copy about your files.

Good luck.

I want to play a mpeg-2 video on my TV through Sony SR 40

You cannot play any content that you transfer from your computer on the camcorder no matter what format you try. The camcorder simply does not support it.

Sony Handycam DCR-TRV18E

Hi there,

Firstly you need the remote control that came with your camera (RMT-814).

Switch on your camera to VCR mode. Then on the remote, press the Data Code button (and of course, point the remote towards your camera). This should display the date and time in the bottom left of the screen.

It should display the appropriate date and time for each bit of recorded video.

Hope this helps!

Data code problem pleeeeeeese heeeelp......

Here are some programs that might help you with your problem : DV Sub Maker (Freeware) from Mike Laba aka Krong makes DVD subtitles from DATECODE in SUB or SST format which can be used in Scenarist and ReelDVD. DV Date Time Changer can change the DATECODE. And the test version of Play DV shows the DATECODE when playing DV AVI files. See http://video2dv.com/ DV Date, (old name DVRecDate) a shareware Adobe Premiere plugin from Ilia Topolnitski stamps DATECODE in videos. A DVD Subtitler (also shareware) exists too!
