Question about Continental Heating & Cooling

Open Question

Cant find the owners manual for our Continental Electric portable AC unit - model CE14085. The drain light is on after having pulled the lower drain plug yesterday, there's a second drain screw off cap (still have the hose that came with the unit). How do I drain the water out of the unit?

SOURCE: narrow tube v. plug and cap?

If the unit stops working and some kind of a 'water level full' indicator appears then un bend it and un plug it and then let the water drain into a bucket.  If it continues to indicate that the internal water tank if full you may want to run a hose to a drain in the floor or into a bucket to let the water drain away and the unit keep running without stopping.

SOURCE: Getting Error E3 on my portable AC unit.

You need to get on-line and find the service manual for your unit. If the manufacturer doesn't have a down-loadable one, they will usually mail or fax you one. Once you have it, you can identify what the error code is and then work from there. It could be something as simple as a dirty unit. All these units are different in regards to error codes.

Should i drain the water from my upright ac unit

All of them I have ever seen have a way to "get rid of " the water from condensation.
Ours has a plastic bucket that must be emptied.
We have another that has a drain hose that can be directed to your choice of drains.
All I have seen will turn themselves off if not emptied one way or another.

I have a continental elec port. air. Not sure of model. Cools great but when compressor kicks on unit make a loud whistling noise. Cleaned filter no help.

although annoying, at this time i would not mess with it, the fan motor needs oiling (zoom spout oiler ) works the best .. you can find how in my other postings.. try running the unit on a lower fan speed... some cool is better than NONE

We are smelling an odor as if something might be burning. emptied the water through the hose, and it drained out well. How often should we drain the water?

Most of the AC units, that also act as a dehumidifier, have a indicator light, that tells you when to empty bucket. Since you didn't mention who the manufacturer is of your Portable AC unit of the model number, it's hard to be precise. Check your Owner's Manual or if you have misplaced it, check the water collection bucket frequently and empty as necessary.

Hope this helped you.

I have a CE-PAC1061-1 . I would like to know if it can be used as a dehumidifer. I do not have a manual.

All ac units are dehumidifiers. It should have a collection pan for the water it pulls from the air.

Everstar portable ac unit displaying error message P1. The unit turned itself off and will not come back on. It had no symptoms of not working well before turning off.

According to my Everstar manual, P-1 is a drainage problem.
EverStar owners manual pg. 16 -

1. Release the drain hose from the ruber clip and pull out the rubber plug, let the drain hose slant down to a water container.

2. Press the TURBO button on the unit control panel for more than 3 seconds and the WATER INDICATOR light begins flashing. It indicates the forced water drainage feature is activated.

3. Waiting until the WATER INDICATOR light stops flashing and there is no water flow.

4. After the water has drained, remember to secure the drain hose and plug in the upright position and clip it to the unit.

The unit will return to normal operation.

....I had to do this and it worked - Good luck!
