Is this a problem? - you're very vague.
Red is right channel out; white is left channel out.

When hooking up the speakers, how can I tell the + wire from the minus wire?

There is no universal standard for wire colors. The minus lead often is black or gray. The plus lead can be any color, often red. Then you may have two leads of the same color, one with a stripe and one without. Which is which is anybody's guess.

1995 toyota tacoma stereo installation - yellow 12v wire and red power wire - where do I connect these? Original radio was removed by previous owner. Factory connector cut but I have all wire showing. I...

Yellow (module memory) 12v wire needs constant power... any "always on" circuit in your car. Red power wire can be connected to your AUX fuse on your fuse panel.... or to the red power lead that powers your original radio.

Volume will just blast real loud

If you have a remote control , unplug the lead from the volume control (at the back of the machine) and instead of it plugging into the Inrfa Red control unit in the base of the cabinet, plug it straight into the amp volume input.
There has been problems with the remote that does what you are suggesting so this will prove the point.

Power problem with car cd player_JVC KD-SH77R

Try hooking your cd player directly to the battery and see if it will turn on that way. May not have a good ground source. You have yellow running to your cigarette lighter and your red running to fuse box or power lead to battery source?

Sound only coming through one channel

You may possibly have a fault with the RED RCA output plug on your CD possibly a loose wire on the internal side or a faulty plug altogether. Try plugging it into another stereo and see if the problem replicates itself.... if so then i am sure that will be the case.
