LCD screen only works when facing the front of the camera

Recently I replaced the LCD Screen of the camcorder. When I open the panel, the LCD does not go on, however when I rotate the screen to face the front of the camera, it does.

What did I do? How can I fix this issue?

More than likely the camera has an internal problem in the power supply section. There is an electronic switching circuit that switches between the battery input and the DC input coming from the AC adapter. Your camera requires professional servicing. How to check if your remote control is sending a signal

If your remote control doesn't seem to any longer work with your TV, DVD or Blu-ray player, home theater system, etc., there's a quick and easy test you can do to check if your remote is sending a signal out. This test only works with infrared remote controls.

Check using an iPhone, iPad, Android, or Windows Phone device with a front-facing camera
  1. Open the Camera app on your device and set it to use the front-facing camera. You should be able to see yourself like in a mirror.
  2. Point your remote at your phone's camera (usually above the screen) and press any of the labeled buttons. You should see the end of the remote light up on the screen.

Using an Android or Windows Phone device without a front-facing camera
  1. Open the Camera app on your device. You should be able to see what's behind your phone from this view.
  2. Point your remote at the back of your phone, aiming in the direction of your camera, and and press any of the labeled buttons. You should see the end of the remote light up on the screen.

Using a digital camera or camcorder with an LCD display
  1. Power on your camera or camcorder and remove any lens caps, filters, or covers. The end of the lens should be free of any accessories.
  2. Set your device's preview mode to LCD or Display (this varies by model). The screen should now show you a preview of what your lens sees.
  3. Point your remote towards the camera's lens and press any of the labeled buttons. You should see the end of the remote light up on the screen.

Using a webcam
  1. Open an app or program on your computer or laptop that shows your webcam't output (Skype, FaceTime, Camera, etc.)
  2. Point your remote at your computer's webcam (usually above the screen) and press any of the labeled buttons. You should see the end of the remote light up on the screen.

If you tried any of the above and saw a light coming from the end of your remote, the issue may very well be with your unit's sensor that picks up the signals from your remote, and the unit may need to be serviced or replaced.

If you don't see a light coming from the remote, and new batteries don't fix it, then you should definitely consider replacing the remote itself. carries thousands of remotes from hundreds of brands sold in the US. Visit us online at or by give us a call at (503) 344-3591!

It does look as if your LCD screen is dead, they are not cheap to replace, but you could pop it in to your local Camera shop, they will mostly be glad to help you.

LCD screen working only if turn counterclockwise

make sure you open the lens 90 degrees to the camcorder.normal operation of the cam will allow you to rotate the lcd to a maximum of 180 degrees and can eve close it with the lcd screen side facing out. you can try pressing the reset button.if it still won't work try removing the battery and unplugging it from the ac adaptor for at least a minute.if still doesn't work properly, issue could be with a bad ribbon inside the lcd that loses contact when you turn it clockwise.that of course would need replacement or repair.

Sony hc-32 touch screen won't work

When touch switches become nonworking then mostly its cause of connecting flexible ribbon wires between LCD board and camcorder main board that got cracked so touch buttons signal does not go to camcorder system control. Need to replace that flexible wire by qualified camera tech.

Very rare cases I found touch buttons layer that is pasted and part of LCD becomes defective, do you see hard or deep scratch on LCD surface? if yes, then LCD screen will be replaced because touch button array is damaged.

Black lcd display when fully closed with the lcd facing out

In that condition you should have picture on LCD and if you don't have, that means flexible wire between LCD board and camera board is cracked and requires replacement.

Let me know exact model of Sony camcorder to provide you part number info about flexible wire, in case you want to repair it by yourself.
