Problem for Nintendo Wii Console

Wii freezes while loading data

By Steve-Ohio on Nov 10, 2007

I purchased Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn. I have had NO PROBLEMS with my Wii console. In this game, you can "Load Fire Emblem Path of Radiance clear data from the GameCube memory card" to enhance the gameplay. When I select YES, the Wii console freezes and makes a buzzing noise. All controls and buttons do not work and the only way to get it back to normal is to unplug the system. Do you know what may cause this problem? Thank you for your help.

-   Playing LEGO Indiana Jones - same problem at various points during The Last Crusade result in the screen freezing and a loud buzz. Only recourse is to force shutdown the system and restart it.

-   my sons got a hotwheels beat that wii game. we have had our wii for almost a month. an hour after they started playing it, it froze up while loading, and made this strange buzzing noise. we took the disc out and put it back in, we pressed the reset button, we tried to turn it off, and nothing worked. my husband was and is at work, so he can't fix it, and we can't find where it is plugged in, even though we know it is plugged in. please help!-   sonador

First off make sure your clear data is not on easy mode.(suggested by red background behind data) Next make sure there is no other data on easy mode, after you check that and delete all easy mode files on the mem card it should work =)

try pressing the - and + on the remote right after you turn we on...hold down throuhg the saftey screen. this will disable the message board....if it works you have a corrupt message.....havent yet figured out how to clear the bad message...We reformatted ours, and lost our games and storage stuff...its like reformatting your computer. although everything you buy at the store will let you redownload for nothing...

Here is what I got from Wikipedia:

If a Gamecube memory card with a cleared Path of Radiance save is inserted, data can be transferred from the save file. Path of Radiance characters who have attained high statistics or weapon ranks will receive corresponding boosts to their Radiant Dawn counterparts. Transferred A-level supports become Bond supports in Radiant Dawn, and the support conversations unlocked can be read in a support library after the game is completed. However there is a bug with this feature that causes the Wii to freeze when any Easy Mode data is present in the Gamecube memory card. Although Nintendo has not officially announced that they are currently working on a fix, they have said in e-mails that they "are aware of this issue and are currently looking to see what solutions may be possible." Currently the only solution to this problem besides not using this feature is to simply delete any Easy Mode save data and using the save date of a completed Normal or Hard Mode game.

The discs aren't damaged, but they were printed incorrectly.
If you send it in they will send you a new disc that works fine, i've gotten mine back, and it works fine.
I don't know about the hard damage problem though... so call nintendo and ask them.

Now you can exchange your old disk with a new one that will fix the problem for free.. If you played the gamecube game on hard or normal then you need not to worry about doing that.

see, no, erasing all easy doesnt work for me... each time, it STILL buzzes! one HARD file, just the one, and it's cleared. no cheats, no hacks, just the one file. yet still, it DOESNT work. i am not sending my game in, because there isnt a single dust mark, and everyone who has ever burned a disc should know that once data is on the disc, it cant be altered unless you make a brand new one.

When I go to start a new game, it asks if i want to carry Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance data to this game. I choose yes and the Wii freezes up and making a "buzzing" noise.

my wii freezes as well when i try to load the save data. i've tried letting the wii rest when i turn it off for a bit but that doesn't seem to solve the problem either.

Comment by phoenixfire, posted on Dec 27, 2007

This problem occurred for me too, however I don't have easy mode data saved on the memory card. I've heard rumors though that hard mode data has occasionally had the same effect. Can anyone confirm or deny? Don't want to delete my hard mode data if it won't work.

Email is quickfixguy@yahoo.com if you can answer my question.

I also have the same probelm. When I load Path of Radiance clear data the system freezes. The power button won't even work! The data on the memory card is still accessible when I play Path of Radiance, so I tried cleaning the Radiant Dawn disk, but that didn't work either. Please help!!!

Mine does the same thing. I have to pull the power wire also, but on mine the eject button works. The disc will come out, however the screen remains frozen. If I put the disc back in, it doesn't do anything, and the buttons on the console are still not useable.

Same problem and I deleted my cleared RD file thinking that would help : (

Comment by designtwil, posted on Nov 21, 2007

Me too. I can't find any other info. I tried to contact Nintendo customer service via e mail but they said it could take several business days for them to get back to me.

I also have the same problem. When I am asked whether to transfer POR clear data or not and I select yes, the wii freezes, makes a buzzing noise and none of the buttons work. I can hold the power button down on the Wii itself and eventually turn off the Wii... I tried copying the save data to different GC memory cards and that didnt' work either.
