I have a similar problem with the Maytag M6P09S2ACOM Air Conditioner, the fan works fine, but now it is hotter, I need the air to work, turned it on tonite and got a rattling sound out of it when the unit turned on, then, it started blowing hot air, then cool, then hot, then cool. Did get a 'refrigerant' smell from it but that is not unusual when first starting up for the summer, does seem to be blowing air out the exhaust hose as it just PUFFS up on start up of the air. I did use it successfully a few weeks ago for a couple days, but now, it is not working other than the fan.
I have had this unit for around 6 years and has been pretty good at cooling, but is upstairs and very heavy to move downstairs for service.
I also find it really hard to clean the back coils, the removable filter is easy to clean, but the back coils it covers get really fuzzy with cat fur and dust etc and due to a grid I can't seem to be able to remove, can't get it off other than a teeny tiny toothbrush, any one else have a better solution as my vaccum doesn't seem to affect it unless I loosen it first.
If you are careful unplug it, tilt it 45 degrees back and use a hose spray sideways to remove the debris from the coils. It worked for me. Be careful not to get any of the electrical parts wet.Low pressure from hose

If your machine is an air conditioner then the little hose needs to drain condensation to the outdoors. Most of the time there is a pump that the hose is attached to inside the unit. If the overflow switch is open the compressor contactor will not operate but the fan will.
I have always had good results finding any manual you want. Try this web site. It's free all you need is Adobe Acrobat to view the manuals or you can download them .
It is possible that your unit needs refrigerant but Before I would have someone recharge it they would have to locate the point of leak and repair it. I would check to make sure it is not some other problem first, like is the compressor operating.
