Question about Texas Instruments TI-84 Plus Silver Edition Graphic Calculator

3 Answers

My TI-84 Plus Silver Edition is completely frozen up.

None of the buttons work, and I've tried replacing the batteries with no results. I was playing on a Casino App, and after it shut down there were 3 dark boxes and two "&8" symbols on the main screen. Is there anything I can do to fix this without getting a new one?

A possible solution is to reset the calculator. It's worth a try.

Take out the backup battery above the regular batteries behind a little door with a screw. Leave it out for about 8 hours along with the 4 AAA batteries. Put it all back together and see if this works. Not sure but it is worth a try.

I had the same problem. I remove all four batteries and the battery backup that is underneath the little phillips screw in the battery compartment. I immediately replaced it and the other batteries and everything worked. FYI, others have called for keeping the batteries out for 8 hours. If immediately re-inserting them doesn't work, give it a try.

Is there areset button my keys are frozen

Unfortunately, you can only access RESET from within the menus of the calculator. You will have to remove all of the batteries and let the system naturally reset. The TI-84 Plus uses five batteries: four AAA alkaline batteries and one SR44SW or 303 silver oxide backup battery. The silver oxide battery provides auxiliary power to retain memory while you replace the AAA batteries. Re-install the batteries and reprogram your functions.

Remove all four AAA batteries. Press and hold down the ON key for at least ten seconds. Replace the batteries and turn the calculator on.

I would suggest putting it in some dry rice. That will soak up all the moisture. You might also try drying it with a hair dryer.

My TI-84 Plus Silver Edition stopped working

That actually is a result of water damage. You probably need to replace it, or see about getting it taken apart and dried if the water damage was recent. DO NOT take it apart yourself. Go somewhere and ask if that is possible.

Frozen ti 84 plus silver edition

Ther is no reset button. You have to take the batteries out.

Take the AAA batteries out and take the back up battery out...located in a little door with a screw just above the AAA batteries. Leave the batteries out for about 8 hours. This is how you reset a TI graphing calculator.
