I'm trying to restore my Toshiba Satellite...

I'm not sure what the problem is, but I had a virus and now it cannot connect to the internet and has some problem recognizing it's cd/dvd drive. I tried doing the checkpoint restore but it doesn't work and the reason it's giving me is: a driver failed. What can I do now?

I have same problem with a laptop I bought for 50 bucks. Indeed it is a virus. I am going to the library tommorow and check out a book on how to start everything over. I have went to so many diffrent sites, and none of them was even a little helpfull. I had the book a few months ago, but I don't rebember everything. There is a section where I would actually make a recovery disk ,and back up everything, then remove all the pograms in the computer, and just start all over again. After that my computer would be just like when it was first purchased. I spent several days for a solution none was helpfull.

Try to format it using an external cd-rom if you have one or using an external harddrive.

My toshiba satellite l305 internet goes in and out and it's not the internet company, any help?

Do a complete reformat of the hard drive, but make sure you have backup discs before you attempt this, if luck prevails the settings will be set at factory, and hopefully your internet will be up and running. It would not hurt to do a full scan with your anti-virus first.

How do I get my Toshiba a665-s5170 to connect to my internet service?

Try a system restore bringing computer back to a earlier time before this happened, this should restore the network settings.

Hi There,

I'd like to qualify this answer as a trouleshooting attempt rather than a solution to be judged with negative feedback. Sometimes, Toshiba OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Software can interfere with normal Windows Programs. A possible way around this is to use Safe Mode.

1. With your computer completely powered off, push the power on button and hit the F8 key repeatedly until a screen appears with choices to boot Windows from Safe Mode.
2. Using the arrow keys, navigate to "Safe Mode with Networking" (this allows internet access in Safe Mode) Hit the Enter key.
3. Once arrived at the Desktop, go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore and try the System Restore from Safe Mode.

If this is not successful, you may have a virus (many of which often attack and disable System Restore).

4. If you have a hidden virus, you should download this program in Safe Mode to find out:

If Malwarebytes does not find a virus then your issue may be difficult to diagnose from here.

Best Regards,

I think my laptop got a virus and i am unable to open Mcfee security center

check in safe mode. how?
shut the computer off//
cont hit f-8 key immediately you restart the computer. keep tapping f 8 till you get advance boot option.
make sure you connect the internet directly to the computer means remove the wireless connection if there is and hook it wired.
select safe mode with networking and login
check the internet and if it doesnot work then do system restore to prev date when the computer was working fine.
always make sure that the date selection should be sufficient if you are not sure.
selecting the date doesnot alter anything on the computer.
follow the wizard of system restore and the computer will restart automatically to normal mode.
if your security suite is not opening then you will have to uninstall it from prog and feature and get it installed properly..

Toshiba wont connect to the internet after it says that it is connected

If you've already tried rebooting and re-installing your internet provider software, you may attempt to restore the computer to an earlier date if you have restore points set-up. Start Menu>Backup And Restore Center(Windows Vista)
