Lighter plug. Where do it hook to

f you are sure it is a lighter plug? Can't tell but it doesn't look like the area for a cigarette lighter to go.A light might be it, but, all cars have a few wires that went to specific connectors on your option list. Do you see a lighter or light close to it?

Voltage spike likely blew across the dielectric of several electrolytic capacitors. The internal fuse may or may not have survived. If it did not- replace it once and see if it is as simple as that, although you are likely looking something more.

If you want to try to salvage it, recap all electrolytics and tantalums. with new high ripple current types for the electrolytics.

Not working after wrong settings

If your main power is 220Vac and it is set in 115Vac. It could be you actually fried your power supply.

Here is the reason, in common power supply after the rectifier diode when it is set in 115Vac, its circuit acts as a voltage doubler, its mean in its downsteams it actually uses around 220Vdc. And when you uses it in 220Vac it will connect directly as a rectifier.

When you set it in 115Vac and plug in 220Vac. In its downstream it could be in 440Vdc, then its an overvoltage everything that can't compensate will be damaged.

Hope I give you some info.

Soldered in new fuse, blew it right away...whats a good upgrade?

A new power supply will fix your problem, and when the fuse blows do not replace it. It blows to protect your computer. please replace with a new power supply.
