I have a ezgo p3211 power wheelchair just put new batteries in it and lights are flashing and it won't drive.

The lights flash in a systematic sequence which reveals an VSI error code. Count the number of flashes.

1. Battery needs charging
2. Left motor bad connection
3. Left motor shorted
4. Right motor bad connection
5. Right motor shorted
6. Unplug battery charger
7. Joystick fault. Make certain the joystick is in the neutral position (centered) before turning on the controller
8. Controller fault. Check connections
9. Parking brakes bad connection. Check connections to parking brake, motor and controller
10. Excessive voltage. Check battery charger connections.

Hi, I have a S646 SE my joystick started flashing yesterday every 5 sec it flashes the w/c icon 3 times and the battery indicator flashes 3 red 4 orange & 1 green. What does this mean?

Most of the time a flash code of 8 means the controller has a fault. but sometimes there maybe a damaged cable connecting the joystick to the controller.Sorry for the bad news.

Lights flashing when turned on, replaced batteries, fuse, in drive position

the amount of flashing lights will give you a Flash code. If the the lights are going up and down, you may have a locked joystick. one method is to turn on and (within 10 sec.) push the horn button twice. Push the power button then push the joystick forward until there is a beep sound then back until you hear a beep sound to unlock.

What does a flashing yellow light mean on the joystick? the light looks like the shape of a wrench.

Hi Judy,

According to Pride's troubleshooting documents the service indicator (wrench icon) will flash when a fault is detected by the dynamic controller.

The number of flashes, followed by a 2 second pause, indicates the issue. You will need to count the flashes to determine the cause and a possible solution.

I have typed the flash codes below, but you can also see them on a larger table here: http://www.fixya.com/support/p3641679-pride_jazzy_614_hd_jazzy_614hd/usermanual-6B42026-pdf

Invacare MKIV R11 Flashing lights

One of the most common controllers, codes to help you and others.

powerc24.jpgpowerc25.jpg

VSI & VR2 Joystick error flash codes:
1 RED BAR:
Low Battery Voltage The battery is flat (more likely).
Or the battery has a bad connection (which is unlikely)
2 RED BARS: Left Motor Disconnected The left motor is disconnected. Check all the connections for physical disconnection or corrosion or burning usually caused by the salt poured onto the roads every winter.
3 RED BARS: Left Motor Wiring Trip The left motors wiring has a short circuit. Check all connections and leads for wear and chafing between the left motor and the battery cables or chassis
4 BARS: Right Motor Disconnected The right motor is disconnected. Check all the connections for physical disconnection or corrosion or burning usually caused by the salt poured onto the roads every winter.
5 BARS: Right Motor Wiring Trip The right motors wiring has a short circuit. Check all connections and leads for wear and chafing between the right motor and the battery cables or chassis
6 BARS: Activated if you turn on your wheelchair with an external device like the Charger still connected.
7 BARS: Possible Joystick Trip, Make sure that the joystick is in the centre position before switching on. If you still get this when switching on then joystick is probably faulty.
8 BARS: A control system trip. Make sure that all connections are secure and if so the power module or control pod is probably faulty. Test by substitution of known good one.
9 BARS: The parking brakes have a bad connection or have a failed solenoid, or any lever or switches that disconnect drive for pushing the chair manually may be pulled or switched.
10 BARS: Over voltage detected. This can happen with a bad battery connection although unlikely. More likely your battery charger is faulty and is overcharging your batteries quite severely.
1 BAR to 10 BARS and back in a "ripple" every few seconds. Joystick not cantered when turned on. Switch off and try again.
1 BAR to 6 FLASH every few seconds. System Asleep. Switch off and back on. Time before sleep can be adjusted or disabled in programming

Hope this helps, If so please click the "Yes" button

Jet 3 flashes "code 7".

The VSI joystick controller of the Jet 3 with a flash code of 7 LEDs flashing on the battery condition display indicates a possible joystick fault.
The most likely problem is with the joystick gimble. You can also get a 7 bar flash if the joystick is out of the neutral position at start-up.
Run the joystick in a circle and back and forth feeling for any sticky or broken/dead spots. Check to see if the spring and gimble come back to center when you release it. Turn off the VSI and try centering the joystick. Turn the VSI back on and see if you can get the fault to clear.
The only recourse is to have the unit rebuilt or replaced . A rebuilt VSI will run about $500 and a new one about $1600. For this reason it is best to check with your insurance before performing the work to see if its a covered item. Hope this helps

Pronto m61 sure step Unit stopped and on power backup would give 9 flashes as error code. Powered off and back on and all was normal again. It's done this 3-4 times it's last 2 weekes. Then the last...

ceejay a 9 flash error code usually means a brake fault. But a brake fault will not cause the chair not to power up. Check all your connections especially where the cable comes out the back of the joystick and where that same cable plugs into the cable to the controller. Sometimes the switch on the joystick fails to make good contact with the circuit board in the joystick and you can try pushing it in different spots to see if will come on. Also check the circuit breaker to make sure it hasn't tripped. If you have a digital voltmeter you can set it on 200 volts dc and plug the leads into the two outter holes on the charger port located under the front of the joystick. You should be reading the battery voltage and fully charged get 25-27 volts. If you don't get any reading then there is a problem in the cable or joystick or power from the batteries. You didn't say if Medicare paid for your chair. If they did they will pay for most of the repair costs. If they did you can contact Repair Xpress @ 1-877-581-3733 or Roadrunner Mobility @ 1-800-467-2668 to have a tech come out to check your chair. Hope this helps you

Pride 1121 wheelchair led 8bars flashing wont unlock batteries new ,the connections good. had just unloaded it ran it over a bump then it started flashing. Controler is bad or what? contiuity from motors...

trent618,

The 8 bar flashing lights indicate a possible control system trip. Without a serial Number or knowing which controller system you powerchair has, I will cover the common used controller systems for the model of powerchair you have.

If you have the Pilot or VSI control system the control system detects an internal problem within its self or the joystick, and I've seen it a couple of times when both the controller and joystick have an internal problem.

If you have the Pilot + or VR2 control system the control system detects an internal problem within its self and/or the joystick and/or a communications error between the joystick and controller. I've seen it once when the controller, joystick and cable between the joystick and controller being deffective. Due to the flashing lights and you have a Pilot + or VR2 there is a good chance the problem is the cable between the joystick and controller.

The possible solutions and repairs above will require the need for an authorized person to perform the tasks. Give the company that sold you the power chair a call, or anyone or different company which works on power mobility products as the part(s) needed will only be sold to authorized deallers or service providers.

Hope this helps, if so, please respond to this solution which will help others who may have the same question.

Pride mobility Jet 3 Ultra Power Chair 7 flashing lights. joystick error. how do i fix ? Three red LEDs Four yellow LEDs

a 7 Flashe code. There is a joystick fault. Make sure the joystick is in the center position and then power off and on again. Check all your couplings. make sure when turning on the unit you only mash the power button for 1 sec. 2-3 sec will put the unit in "Lock out mode".
This ierror will also be present if the joystick is off center when powered up. If you experience these symptoms, you must first make sure there is no physical damage to the joystick preventing it from returning to the center position. Then turn the power off and back on again (making sure the joystick is not depressed in any direction. If the joystick repeats this error, the controler much be replaced. [email protected]
