Question about Epson MovieMate 30s Projector

Open Question

I have had my moviemate 30s for a little less than a year. I have been able to watch dvds on the machine until recently. I now get a message that reads "Region Err." on the machine and "Region Code Error!" on the projected image. How do I fix this so that I can watch dvds (again)? Thanks.

SOURCE: I have an Epson Moviemate

Make sure the movie-mate is not placed tilted.Tilting it up more then 5 degrees can cause picture skipping and scratches on new disc. Also make sure there is no finger tips on the dvd disc.----------- But if its placed and positioned right and there are no finger tips on disc. Then its not disc problem.--------- Then the problem relates to movie-mate lens.------- If the lens is weak or lens is dirty, then it will not read the disc and picture will freeze.------ The lens is a eye of the projector. If the eye is weak or eye is dirty, then its the problem.-------- If the lens is dirty, it can be cleaned. But if its weak, then it has to be replaced.--------- ------------ Also make sure that movie-mate is placed on correct distance from screen. Not very near and not very far.-------- ---------- Click this link for manual of Epson 30s movie-mate:--- ------------- Check page number 47 for lens cleaning.-------- Check page number 48 for cleaning air filter.------ Check page number 49 for lamp replacement.--------- Check page number 57 to page number 61 for picture problems:-- ------------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

you can play TV through any projector if you use an external tuner. This could be a satellite tuner, freeview box of similar. It has some type of aerial, cable or satellite input and handles channel changing etc, and sends a picture to any attached external display.
Most tuner type devices will have a Scart or 3 x RCA outputs, modern equipment may have DVI or HDMI. Avoid HDMI initially if possible would be my advice, simply because the copyright protection can be a real pain. You'll need to make separate provision for audio (eg, attach your hifi to the tuner)

My sony ps3 is showing an error message of a corrupt file and it can fix itself but when i try to follow direction it will return to message about corrupt file again. cannot play anything, dvd or games...

System file or data coruption is innevitable. If it is preventing you to make your PS3 work, you'll need to get rid of that corrupted file. To do that you have to format your hardrive, if it won't work try to do a system restore.

Has blue dots on screen and heavy blue tint when watching tv or dvds

burn spots on the light filter on the blue lcd panel due to excessive dust and heat. blow out any dust with canned air. as for repairing it, you may have to replace the entire optical engine, as they don't sell individual parts.

I have two different digital projectors that have been used for a long time. Now, even with new bulbs, we are noticing areas of mysterious blue beginning to show up unevenly across our image screens....

if they are lcd projectors (as opposed to dlp), the blue light filter (polarizer) is starting to fry due to excessive heat and dust. clean the projectors out thoroughly with canned air and see if it helps. if it does not, you will need to have the blue light filter replaced. unfortunately, most projector companies don't replace individual parts of the optical engine, but the whole engine itself.

Can i watch tv through my epson projector?

Yes, if your projector has a video input. Connect your projector's composite video input jack (usually colored yellow) to your video source. You said you want to use it to watch TV, so you'll want to connect it to the video output of a video tuner (such as a digital TV converter box) or a VCR with a built-in tuner. Set your projector to the video input and you're good to go! If your only tuner is your television, you'll need to check your owner's manual to see if it has an "output" jack. Some do, some don't. If yes, you're in luck. If not, try one of the other sources I mentioned earlier. Good luck!

I contacted Gateway and found out that the AR-230 will not work with anything more than 4x DVD's. Usually it will format DVD-RW's but avoid memorex brand. Usually any other cheep brand will work.
